When I bought the V4 Aging Morphs, my plan was to use GenX to transfer them to G1, G2 and G3 and see how they worked there.

It's a shame one can't get older versions of Studio; it's free after all!  You would just load V4 , inject the morphs and save it back to the Library and you can then load it in Studio 4.  I have Poser so I add them there.

I should add that the script works in Studio 2.3 as well; the number at the end of the file corresponds ot the Studio version number it works with..

I have DS 3; but I have had a lot of trouble with malware when using 4Shared. Is the script available anywhere else?

AFAIK, this is the only place; I got the link from this thread...

It irritates me when useful utilities that are copyrighted are not available commercially.

@WandW, @Charlie Judge, thanks! I was looking for Cross Dresser here at DAZ. It looks useful. I'll have to see if I can find a complete list of characters supported by the universal license to see if I have enough to make it worthwhile - it'd be cool if it were everything! - and wait for it to go on sale.

Cross Dresser itself is free, and there are some free licenses at the evilinnocence store - so you can download it, download the licenses, and do some conversions to see if it is going to work for you.

It's not a universal license; it is a bundle of ALL the individual licenses.http://www.evilinnocence.com/shop/store/shop-by-category/crossdresser.html

Ugh. Featured Artists who were 55% off yesterday are 64/65% off today if I buy a pair of wings. I spent enough yesterday to more than justify a pair of wings.

Just put it into you cart, then view your cart, and if the price is wrong, hit F5.

It should refresh and apply the discount.

    I did, including Ctrl F5.

    I decided not to bother.

By itself refreshing doesn't fix it. You have to click 'Edit Cart' and then when you get back to the cart click 'Procede to Checkout"

I'd actually been considering getting a Premier membership at that OTHER site and spending some time over there with their content because this sale was not as exciting as previous sales and I've got most of what I really wanted over here. I ended up putting the money I would have put into that into gift cards here... so people letting me know about ways to maximize the sales over here really encouraged customer loyalty to the DAZ store.

I have it, and use it all the time. I've finally figured out their sales cycles and am enjoying some big discounts there as well. But there's no thread in their forums for these things and can't really talk about it here. Yes, good deals to be had. No smart content when you load that stuff, or Product Library (though there is a pretty decent order history.) You also can't hide what you own. Kind of like Amazon. At both places, I've gone to buy something only to realize I already had it, LOL.

CS ticket submitted. Bleah. I did not expect that kind of discount; they usually seem to try to avoid blantantly discounting further stuff that was already on sale. But I guess they had to balance 3d Universe's "First G3 Wings To (Daz) Market" buff somehow. At least they're normally pretty great about that stuff, but there's always kind of an emotional burden in asking for money back for me. Doesn't stop me from DOING it for anything over about $5... but I always triple check everything first. I always wonder if they keep track of the really annoying customers.

Gotta agree here. Those vendor store wide sales are absolutely amazing....which reminds me, I've been thinking this a lot, and still can't quite understand why new items are not included in vendor catalog sales here. I mean, anybody who has used DAZ store more than couple of days probably never buys anything with list price. So what's the point of excluding new items from sales, when artists make hardly any income from their new products while they have new status but are out of initial 30% off sale.

Amazon no longer lets you buy it again if it's digital content. (Okay, okay, I'm a little offtopic. :D)

Yesterday this is what I was doing. I added RDNA items to my wishlist. I opened my Wishlist. I opened up the cart in another tab.

I'd add the item from my wishlist, then "continue shopping," instead of checking out. Then I'd go to my tab with the cart open, and click on the shopping cart. It would refresh and I'd have the item in the cart at the wrong price. I'd hit F5, it would update the cart, I'd check out. Go back to the tab - that item would still show as "in cart." Add another RDNA item. Go back to the other tab, hit the cart icon. It would come up with that item, wrong price. I'd hit F5, cart would update, right price, check out.

    Wash, rinse, repeat.

Yeah, @Llynara, I've noticed that about that other store... No smart content, no product library, no thread on how to get the best disounts.

#2 is usually #2 for a reason in any industry. Doesn't mean they're bad, just not as good as #1. :)

There's the item list instead of the product library, though you have to dig to find it.

Smart content is only an issue if you use it :-p

Is there a way to add other products not sold here, freebies or even your own creations into smart content? Smart content seems to be the easiest way to see what you actually have unless I'm missing something. When I go to the regular content pane, I have to look alphabetically if I know exactly what I want, unless you want to spend days catagorizing everything as mentioned in another thread..

Agreed, I never use smart content and I am perfectly fine without it

I use all 3 major methods, smart content, by file and product, content library, for DAZ studio and Poser formats...

and custom categories with a Favorites folder I've set up per instructions @Divamakeup provided a while ago.

I know you can also get to content from the shaping tab, and maybe parameters and surfaces too... but I rarely stumble across that method.

  • donovancolbertdonovancolbert Posts: 1,421

Smart Content is nicest, if you can get it. I don't need it, but I like it when it is an option and it works.

Me tooo. It's the closest I can get to multiple tabs.

But does anyone know a way to add non-Daz content to the smart content tab??? Or even your own tweaked content?

  • DustRiderDustRider Posts: 2,901

I'm also in the anti smart content club, since I tend to use a lot of things that smart content isn't so smart about (like using Genesis or V4 cloths on Genesis 3).

This should help - You need to create your own metadata. Just make sure you keep your metadata backed up in case your system crashes or you move to a new system, or you will need to re-create it all again.

I did it without that. I wish I could remeber exactly. I did something to my database and it reset Daz to all the defaults....

    I think I...

    Made My Own Category...called Vehicles.

Then I chose to Show that Category in Smart Content and then I navigated to that confusing catch-all content library and right-clicked and chose Categorize and my items showed up under that list. It didn't have an icon so I had to make a 150 X 150 (going my pure memory here) .png file and place it in one of two places. It had to have the same name as the obj file. That much I remember clearly.

All this knowledge came from an amalgamation of 6 diifferent threads on Daz.lol

I'm sure Richard knows the EXACT method that goes here. It was few steps, but they were all pretty simple.

Yes, I do it all the time. You can use the ContentDB Editor in the Content Library pane to set up the metadata fields. You can drag and drop files onto a category title to set categories. There are several tutorials floating around. I think Slosh did one. I also think there is some documentation in the Daz Wiki. I'm not where I can search for this stuff now. See what you can find.

Ok thanks everyone, I will try to follow. The problem is if it's not in smart content, I can't find it among the gazillion things I have in regular content for both Daz and Poser. If I do figure it out, I have no idea how to back it up...

In DS v4.9, oopen the Content Library tab and click on the menu icon, (a square button with several horizontal lines and small arrow.) The resulting pop-up menu should include "Content DB Maintenance." Click on that. In the resulting pop-up window, select "Re-import Metadata..." and click on Accept. In the next pop-up window, (titled Import Meatdata,) you will see a number of options inluding a list of all products. (I usually leave everything selected!) Click on Accept.

I don't know if you have to be connected for this to work, but after running this utility some time back, I noticed 3rd party products showing up in Smart Content. YMMV.

Metadata you create will be in the Local User "product" exporting user data should back it all up for you. Have you found the Slosh tutorial? It was a YouTube video, I think, from probably a couple years ago.

Not yet. I have to find a chunk of time to look for that and work on organizing everything! Between shopping and organizing, it's hard to find time to create the actual art LOL! But it would be great if I could get everything in smart content. And then I have to report to Daz all the mistakes they have in smart content and hopefully have them at least fix that. Brooke for G3 has been sitting alone under people for ages while all other G3 girls are under figures/female. And Danielle for G3 does not have a slider for her face morph and the icon doesn't work either. And another G3 character exists only as a slider in a totally wrong area, by herself, and a Cookie product refuses to install. And hundreds of things are still in lost and found! Hopefully Sunday I can find some time! I wonder if anyone else has these same issues?
