    It's driving me nuts. I keep clicking on the wrong thing because I forget it's loading and so the link I mean to click on is suddenly further down the page. It's been added to at least twice too, which only makes it taller every time. I have visions of the bottom of it scraping the floor beneath my desk before this sale is over!

    It has its own class and id, so you can easily block it with some adblocker, like AdBlock. However, since the offer in it often changes, you won't know what the current deal is if you block it.

    Which is why I haven't, but I don't see why they couldn't have put all the info on a page somewhere (together with info that answers the questions people have had, such as how long before Bonus Buyer status expires etc) and then made a slim banner (around the same size as the top menu) linking to the page. That way, you'd always know whether you were still qualifying if the banner was showing, but it wouldn't be taking up masses of screen and you'd be able to jump staight to the necessary info if you were thinking of buying. They could always add 'Updated on xxxx at xxxx' to the banner, perhaps changing the text colour with each update, to show that there's something new on the page.

    There's got to be something friendlier than this.

    You could use GreaseMonkey browser plugin (FireFox) and rewrite the HTML to suit it your needs. You need to know a bit about HTML and CSS, though.

    My quickest solution would be:

    1. block it with AdBlock;
    2. at the beginning of each day, you pause AdBlock to see if you still qualify and what the current deal is;
    3. then you unpause AdBlock to hide the banner again.

    I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I saw that it had grown again this morning. It's starting to look like someone's trying to write a novel up there.

    It scrolls off the page doesn't it? Though I do agree that the delayed appearance can be a nuisance.

    I don't think it scrolls off of all of them, but yes, it does on most. Eventually :) It certainly doesn't seem to put usability as a high priority.

    It's a major irritation when using my smartphone to surf here.

    More than a nuisance — several times now this month I've clicked on the wrong thing because of the delay. It's ridiculous, what kind of web page coding causes this to happen? Amazingly user-hostile.

    I wouldn't mind (quite) so much if the banner just appeared at the top of store pages, but why is it barging in to grab our attention in the forum pages as well?

    Try to delete a draft post on the forum while the banner is active - it remains over the delete confirmation button so you can't do it. The delay is also causing me to click on the wrong things. Anyone who's ever created web pages hits similar problems from time to time but they usually get fixed before going live. DAZ changes the promos so often and rapidly that it must be impossible to do proper testing. Still, I remember this particular problem each time the banner has been used.

    It should an unobtrusive one line bright banner at the top after the first time you click on it once you login to validate its existance in our universe, then when you re-click it expands to FULL SIZE.

    I think it's because it's been placed in the site's master cascading style sheets or javascript; need to look at dealing with it with the Stylish style I've written for this site.

  • I'll see what I can do about making it collapsable and exapndable.  We'll try to have an update before the weekend.  Thank you all for the perspectives.

    If you  manually resize the browser window and play around with the width, the dialog box will show the OK button so you can delete your drafts. Iit worked in Chrome when I had the same problem. I had to make the width about half the screen size before it popped up.

    It's also possible to keep hitting the tab key and then the enter key; I managed to do it earlier.

    Thanks ... I eventually managed to click on a tiny edge showing beneath the banner. Anyhow, looks lie DAZ will look at it over the weekend. Good to know that the forum gets a look now and then. wink

    That would be good, thanks.

    Is there any way of getting the banner to load as part of the whole page? The most annoying thing about it is the delay before the whole page scrolls down.

    I think someone suggested making the banner just a single line, with all the info on it actually at the top of the sale page itself. Why can't it be done this way?

    Did you buy anything in the last 2 days? Remember, it is only valid on the day you purchase something (not free), and the following two days.

    I was just in the store and noticed the new and improved version of the banner. Thanks for listening, Daz! :)
