dripping wax effect?

How can this be achieved please and has anyone done this? I have looked around and seen a lot of "drips and drops" type things but they are mostly brushes and would not be able to look right on a 3D type side image. I have also looked at candles too in the store here and elsewhere but they appear not to come with any type of dripping wax props :(

If you are talking about a still render...

You'd need to use wax shaders on those, and the liquid pack is probably the best candidate for what you are trying. The props load very lrage, you'll have to scale them down.

I'm not sure if there are any freebies.

If the model (candle, etc.) were UV mapped, you could create Displacement maps to create runs down the sides, as long as the drips or runs were attached to the model. For semi-detached drips, you could probably add something like this, judiciously, and parent them to the original object:

They're for Poser, but if they are simply props they should work fine in DAZ Studio.

I sometimes imagine a dripping saliva effect prop. :) Would be nice to use such a prop on some monster with its mouth wide open.

Maybe if there were a dripping wax effect prop, I could use some appropriate shader on it and presto, it will now be saliva instead of wax!

As noted above, there are a number of dripping liquid effects props out there. Sickleyield's rigged water items include a milk shader that ought to pass for molten wax if you alter the color of the diffuse to match the color of the candle.  Just reduce the prop down to the necessary size, half bury it in the isde of the candle, apply shaders.
