hi i have a ? can someone help me

iam doing a scene of a fight and one of my models is going to have a hook for a hand  

so for the other model i want a put a tear in the suit jacket slit   does anyone know how to do that  

and render it in iray so it comes back realistic looking  ty

    You could use the Geometry Editor and create a material group, then use the cutout opacity (reduce it to zero) in Surfaces to hide that section (material zone.) If you made the edges uneven with the mesh you select to hide, it would appear raggedy. You could then also select one or two rows of the jagged edges that remain, make those a material zone, then apply a shader which is different than the original cloth, (tears would probably be lighter) to give the impression of thread wear and tear.

  • I'm really new and just learning but yesterday I learned how to use a transparency map in iray. I used it to crop a shirt. I just bought Ron's ripped fabric brushes and I'm going to try those on a transparency map as soon as I can get them to download. Having internet issues tonight. :(
