I too would like to see old content get redestributed

In some cases it could be possible as some items were simply removed by the PA because they felt it was dated. So for those items, a face-lift and re-release would be awesome!

However, some items such as the Kali outfit you mentioned, was made by more than 1 person, so the whole group would have to agree making a face-lift and re-release a bit more complicated. Then, even if they do agree, where would they release it? They are probably all on different sites now, if on a site at all. Again using the Kali outfit, Littlefox is here under Lady Littlefox but neither of the other 2 are

Actually Secretheart and Nightsong are vendors here too, under other names: Secretheart is "Anna Benjamin", and Nightsong "Mary Williams".

  • Only speculating, but I suspect the Kali outfit was not brought over because it is too skimpy for Daz. For instance, Aery Souls 'Aery Mage' did not originally have the bikini included, but Daz wouldn't accept it, so they were forced to add a bikini. (That last bit is not speculation tho ;) )

I recall the "other" site bringing back all their discontinued products for a few weeks some time last year (or maybe the year before that). The products were all fixed at a very low price ($3, I think), and were sold with the understanding that no support would be offered on them. There was hundred's of items, and a fair bit of good stuff, I know the month they did that was the most I have ever spent over there.

It would be nice if DAZ did something similar with their old, no longer available products. I know they would need permission of the PA's owning the products, but I am sure most would accept if the proviso was added that products could not be returned, and no support was offered.

Well, I'd love to see some of the older Aeon Soul/Aery Soul/Awful Soul/Alphaseed/Asparagus or whatever name they're using this week's outfits and hairs come back.  Since they've intentionally pulled their entire catalog several times, though, that's not likely to happen.  Overall, though, DAZ has been much better at keeping old items than most of the other stores, which tend to be filled with texture sets and add-ons for now dead products.  I do seem to recall that there's one older set of hair, from back in the V3 days, that I still see people asking about repeatedly...but I can't remember the name at the moment, though.

I'd say that the Kali outfit was not  brought over because it's for V4.  Many vendors are no longer supporting her as getting product accepted by Daz 3D for them is suspect.  Why spend all that time creating for her and they just say 'no thanks'?

If someone really must have the Kali outfit I would contact the vendor direct and ask about purchase options.  They may be open to that or have a personal store elsewhere.

Edit - Aeon Soul is one of the vendors that stopped creating for V4 too.  Any of their items for her went on final sale at RDNA well before the sale of RDNA to Daz 3D.  AS then moved to Daz3D to work on Genesis products.

Sadly so, as I still love V4 despite all the new and beautiful G3 Females.

I agree that many of the older stuff could find new life. I understand the reasons they are "vaulted" are due to the products not being up to par to today's level of tech, or that the PA no longer selling through DAZ. While the latter is situational, the former, I think should be reconsidered. I mean there are products that would be great with the lower poly/less realistic figures (Toons or the Lorez series, for instance).

I would like to see PhotS and Children of the Nile again - for G2 and G3. Autofit works fine on the G1/M4/V4 versions, but it 'costs' a lot of memory. Same with the 'Cheyenne' series.

Given that they've brought over lots of content for V4, including all the other items from the "RDNA Pro" line, I'd say it's not the reason...

Auto fit should not cost you any more memory than a non-autofit version, although they will massively increase the size of the duf scene file, as the recalculated obj has to be stored there This means saving a scene takes much longer than it should. To solve this you should save any auto fit items as Figure/Prop assets, delete them from the scene, and then re-add them using the duf file from the Figure/Prop asset you saved.

  • yes support asset the way to go as otherwise your duf scene file is full of vertex information.

At first I thought the reasoning would be material conversions and whatnot, but many products that came over are stuck on old MT5 materials...

There's one product -- Wired Outfit, I believe it's called -- that didn't make it over, but the Wired Hair did. Strange.
