It's best to do those things with morphs / JCMs — not bones.

If the majority of motion is in a single direction, with no arc, that's definitely better done as a morph, like Kaleb said.

If the majority of motion is in an arc, or further motion takes place after that point (like an arm or leg), that's better done as a bone.

If a motion does not move anything but itself, and instead reshapes bodyparts, like breathing, that's best done as a morph.

All of the motions you suggest fall into the morph bit - swallowing adam's apple, and breathing, explicitly are best done as morphs.

mebbe tweeners could help with those?

my breathing seems to be in my tummy, not my chest so much.

ladies in the novels have heaving bosoms,
    can heave pectorals,
    but what about in between?

Breathing is complex - people at rest and those trained only move their tummy, but many people, and those in the throes of adrenaline, move the chest as well.

"Tweeners"? Sounds like a term from outside our little bubble. Unless you mean kids around 11-12 yrs, I don't think it's what you want. And even then, hey.

Ideally, there would be 3 or so different breathing morphs. This would be one for the chest, one for the upper stomach, and one for the lower stomach, and the user could mix and match to suit the scene. These would be dials located in the core of the figure - the part that is the figure name in the Scene pane. Actually, I'm not sure why there isn't...

SimonWM achieved swallowing/breathing/blinking frames/actions for Genesis 2 via three products (Genesis 2 Alive!, Muscularity Morphs for Genesis 2 Male(s) and

Muscularity Morphs for Genesis 2 Female(s)) and for Genesis, Michael 4, and Victoria 4 via one product each (also called Alive! and prefixed by the appropriate figure name) combined with Daz muscle morph packages. Since Genesis 3 seems to have been ignored for the most part by any enterprising animation utility developer, who knows if he will bother with a G3 version.

There is a sternum depth morph and a chest depth morph in most all off DAZ's figures.

ladies in novels with heaving bosoms are usually wearing too tight corsets ,so the only thing able to heave is the bosom which has been squeezed out of the corset .........wink
