New Jet - How do you get into the plane?!

I love i13 products.  I really do.  But, this new jet plane package is seriously missing a piece of vital equipment.  There is no door!  Really?  How can you do a jet like that and NOT have a door?  That just really ruined the whole idea of getting this set for me.  Normally, I do most of my own poses now, but I still have a weak spot for i13 poses because I've learned a lot about posing from that vendor and will still get unique pose sets from i13 when they would save me some time or I just plain like them.  However, I am really disappointed in the prop that goes with this new pose set.

You mean this one: i13 Private Jet and Poses? Maybe you get in and out through the windows, like the General Lee?

Well, at least it's better equipped than the one that doesn't have wings or an engine, or the one that doesn't have an outside at all.

Still, there's still hope for the Daz3D private jet squadron with this one and this one (which I'd buy in a heartbeat if I could persuade myself I had a use for it). Or for the mother of all private jets, there's this one.

Who knew private jets would be such a popular subject?

  • Yeah, I actually have the last two you linked.  Those are good planes.

From what I've seen, Polish tends to go overboard with detail, which in my opinion, is a good thing!

That one has an issue with its materials files, though. I've had a ticket open on it since June. If you try to use the materials files, it throws off dozens of errors in Studio. I *think*, but am not certain, that it also has the issue that many of that vendor's products have, where the only actual Iray shaders are on emissive surfaces, and everything else is Daz Studio Default (that is, 3Delight). Which means that the item is almost, but not quite, perfectly usable in 3Delight, and mostly usable in Iray, since it can autoconvert surfaces (but shouldn't have to).

Yes, lots of missing files. The complete scene loads without any errors though. It's light on resurces btw, only 3300 MB VRAM and less than 5.5 GB system RAM used in total when rendering, and the lighting is good. Great and well done product in general, just wonder why the plane has no external textures at all but they're fairly simple to create yourself of course.

Yes, no external textures. This has been my project to learn how to make textures myself.

I have an i13 bar with no restroom (or even a door to a restroom). I added a door, but it took a bit of fiddling to make it look appropriate.

Maybe consider like one of those "movie set" props. There are quite a few of those in the Daz Studio store. If the prop is cool and you don't need to render the door, then I'd say ignore the flaw and just enjoy the set for what it is, a nice "photo set" or "movie set". :)

...yeah, but a door on an aircraft is a pretty basic feature to omit if you inckude an exterior veiw.

What I was thinking, too.  I could have ignored it if it was intended as just an interior, but the textured the outside and stuff like they expected you to use the outside.  I might pick it up when it isn't new anymore as an interior set.  I hate buying sets that I think are missing vital bits, though, when they are still new.  For this one, I'll wait until it's at a Fast Grab price or better.

This is surprising to me, as i13 is usually a lot better about not making these kinds of mistakes.  I love most of their work....but a glaring omission like this is pretty hard to ignore....

The plane is clearly missing one key ingredient.... SNAKES. Man if I had that set, I'd have to give it a go. Haven't used snakes mucha t all! =-)

Granted, if there are no hatches, there would be no way for snakes to get on the plain, but....

  • The jet was developed after the invention of teleportation and before the realisation that jets weren't needed anymore.

  • The answer is included in the promo images, the fuselage opens up...

Well there actually is a cutout in the other side of the plane (lower half), could that be a door?
