Install / Uninstall
in New Users
Ok I have tried to install. It won't install cleanly or without giving erros when I start the programme and I have been through various threads to try and resolve these errors. I have given up on that as a waste of time. I have therefore been trying to delete DAZ completely and start again. I have uninstalled DAZ and uninstalled down load manager but the DAZ files and folder persist in Program files sub folder DAZ 3D. I have tried to delete these but it repeatedly refuses to do so saying that I do not have the correct admin rights.
I would like to delete this folder and all its sub folders completely and start again.
What do I have to do to make this happen.
Thanks

Presumably you are running from an admin account, or entering your admin password, to be able to install - if you have those rights, or switch to the admin account if you don't, that should enable you to delete the folder.
However, it's likely that the errors you are running into are down to interactions with something else on your system rather than a defective install - it may be more productive to reply with details of the errors you are encountering.
Ok this is becoming very frustrating.
Actions to date:
Created Account.
Downloaded Download manager - as suggested by some but then countered by other threads.
Installed.
Download Manger states that everything has been installed but there is no DAZ Icon and no way to start the programme.
Uninstalled all. But folders not removed. I have no access to remove the folders.
Download just the DAZ Studio for window 64.
It ran and I got a programme I could open by with the error PostgreSQL Error and would not let me log on as the tutorial suggests that I should.
So tried to start again. Uninstalled all. But folders still there and I cannot delete these folders.
Reinstalled
It runs but give the error c:/usres/me/Downloads/Dazstudio4.9.3.166Win64 to C:/PrgramFiles/Daz£D/DAZ Studio4/DAz Studio.exe
I tried to ignore to see what happened
Installed contrinue to errir The installation of DAZ Content Management Sercice has encountered an error
So I am at a loss. Reading these threads some people are saying that you must use the Install Manager and others that install manager does not install Studio. The help system denies that there is an install process and gives no help as to how to remove the unwanted folders.
If anyone has some answers I would be most grateful.
Have you installed PostgreSQL? What security software are you using, if any?
Yes I am running from an admin account and I use McAfee Internet Security which is currently running.
BTW I am logged on as the administrator but I still denied access when I wish to delete the folder.
@mikestillingfleet
I made the stupid mistake of trying to move one of my folders and have had a corrupted file ever since. Been trying to do a complete uninstall/reinstall myself.
I was hoping to find here with the ROOT System Key/s and what not.
When I have gone to reinstall, the same butchered files show up. I downloaded and installed months ago the current version I have, with out the installer. But, I came to get some of the freebies, and I needed the installer. When I ran the installer, on the list of installs was DAZ3d, I thought maybe I'd be getting a prompt asking me whether I'd like to overright current file. But, no, it just started installing it again.
Anyways, I'm trying to do one more attempt at uninstalling and reinstalling. I'll be back to let you know if it installed correctly. Also, if you haven't posted since the 13th, are you still having your troubles?
Thanks and thanks to the others that see a weigh in. :D
McAfee Security may be part of the problem. Some of the more vigilant virus programs don't play well when installing Daz Studio.
Wanted to add, I hope you don't give up, its really a great program. I had my fair share of issues with it in the beginning as well but I'm really glad that I kept at it. The people here are super helpful and Richard is really good at helping with this kind of stuff as are some others.
I'm far from wanting to give up on it. This problem happens when I started getting on a roll with the program.
I'm not using McAfee. I'm using Norton. I'll give that a try. This will be about the 5 time trying to fix some issues. I wish I didn't move the damn folder that had my presests and what not, saved. Otherwise, I'd be fine. Half the stuff that says is downloaded doesn't work.
The thing that kind of boggles my mind, is that the Install Manager, installed a version over a main install, without a prompt to replace. One more thing I haven't tried yet, and that's to see if I run the Install Manager, if I can have it delelte the files and the re-DL everything. Otherwise. I'm not giving up, and hopefully the next version is around the corner.
In the mean time, I'll be trying to get more acclimated with it.
Thanks @Ice Dragon Art for responding :D
Which folders? Where do they come from - a DIM install, or a back up? I had tremendous problems recently after reinstalling Windows 10 - I was locked out of a lot of directories, including my content, due to the way the ownership had beens et on the older system (the data drives had not been touched by the reinstall).

Checkout this thread as well, your at least going to want to clear the app data; and you may need to use Ccleaner to delete the DAZ keys from the registry.
Finally got it sorted out. Some of my previous work files (now missing) are still ghosting in the in app folders. But, everything is working like it was about 2 weeks ago.
But, I couldn't begin to tell you what I finally did to make it work. Just many times unistall/reinstalling. Basically finally found multiple folders. I did a combo of searching the computer from the start menu. Deleting every folder and file I possibly could, and then running Ccleaner. Finally...Ugh
Now to work on get the basics down right, before trying to add on more content.
