Hi,

I recently bought V4 Muscle Morphs. It requires Morphs ++ which I already I have. So I select V4, load the INJ for muscles, and NOTHING happens. Usually dials will appear after a morphs is loaded but in my case nothing changes. What's happening??

Thanks,

How did you install, by DIM or Connect, or manual?

  • RobertDyRobertDy Posts: 272

The morphs were installed by DIM. V4.2 if I recall correctly was installed manually. After browsing through it seems that the recommended solution is to run DzCreateExPFiles-V4.bat in Runtime>libraries>!DAZ , but I can't seem to locate such a file. What's happening?!

  • Are you sure all the items - Victoria 4, Morphs++, and the Muslce Morphs - are in the same content diectory? The DzCreateExPFiles-v4 should be added by the Victoria 4 base so if it's not there it does sound as if you have the installation spread over two (or more) locations.

  • RobertDyRobertDy Posts: 272

I entered the file name in the search bar to search the whole of the DAZ folder and nothing showed up. I haven't got the time to look in other locations yet though at this point I'm wondering if reinstalling V4 will work? (I'm pretty apprehensive about it though , might that affect any existing scenes etc I have?)

  • RobertDyRobertDy Posts: 272

Anyone ? Any idea why the file can't be found and might reinstalling V4 work?

  • RobertDyRobertDy Posts: 272

I have double-checked my directory. V4, Morphs++ and Muscle Morphs are all in the same directory. Still, no DzCreateExPFiles-V4.bat file.

Also I can't seem to find V4.2 base to load a new V4 character onto the scene ever since I updated to 4.9. Very, very frustrating indeed.

I recently downloaded and installed V4 Muscle Morphs but after loading the morphs nothing happens - no dial shows up. After browsing through the forums the common solution is to run DzCreateExPFiles-V4.bat in the Runtime > Libraries > !DAZ folder.

However I can't find any such file in said path. I've double-checked and confirmed that V4.2 base, Morphs++ and Muscle Morphs are all installed in the same directory. I installed V4.2 through the manual .exe installer years ago (and not through DIM).

Please can someone help me on this.

    Thanks

Yes, reisntalling the base Victoria 4 package will give the batch file and won't affect saved scenes.

Delete your old Generation 4 and download the latest with DIM.  In DIM click the 'cog' icon to open preferences and go the Installation tab.  Press the + button at the bottom to add a new installation library just for DAZ Generation 4, click the main Accept when done.  In the Ready to Install tab make sure you have the 'Show Details' box checked, this add a window to the bottom that info and a button/bar to change installation libraries.  Be sure to add your new library to Studio in the Content Directory Manager.

  • Please don't start multiple threads on a single issue - it leads to people wasting their time (and yours) going over stuff that has already been covered.

Ok, I'm still very new to this - how do I uninstall v4 which was installed using the .exe installer?

Sorry, I thought the post was abandoned as there was no reply for quite some time. My bad.

"v4 which was installed using the .exe installer"

If you checked the option box to create an uninstaller when V4 was installed, that is the best option for cleaning your system of all the files. If you didn't choose to create an uninstaller, then you must go through and manually remove all the V4 files from their various locations, unfortunately. If you choose to do that, there is a listing of all the base V4 files which can be found here:

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/4783/start

Scroll to near the bottom of the page and click on the "File List" link. That will tell you where everything is (yep, there's a whack of 'em).

Thanks, i most likely did install an uninstaller but don't seem to be able to locate it and I remember searching the file list you mentioned but there's no uninstaller there. Where do I find it?

Its been a while since I used one of the old self-extracting archive files (.exe's) to install content and I didn't often create the uninstallers either, but I believe that they went into a folder called "Uninstallers" in the DAZ Studio folder under Program Files.

nope, no v4.2 uninstaller in said folder :( EDIT - I just installed v4 through DIM without uninstalling the previous v4 anyway, still no DzCreateExPFiles-V4.bat file. Is uninstalling it really necessary and if yes, please please where do I find the uninstaller lol. After checking the web some sites say c:\program files\Common Files\DAZ\V4Base_Uninstall.exe, but i'm not sure if this is valid and i couldn't find such a file in that directory either)

I don't get it. what is the path of this new installation library just for DAZ Generation 4? All I know is the standard path for DAZ installations (users/public/documents/my daz3d library). Please advise if the method of installation through DIM for v4.2 is different. There doesn't seem to be much info on this. Thanks

The path is any valid path you want it to be, as long as the same path is entered into both DIM and Studio (under both Studio formats and Poser formats in the Content Directory manager).  But you need to delete the old files first and if you didn't tell the old installer to create an uninstaller you will have to route them out manually.

Thanks, from your posts it seems that anything 4th Gen should not be mixed in the same folder with other stuff? But what about my clothes, hair etc for V4 , Will these have to go into that separate folder as well? (I currently have all of them installed in the 'recommended' path by DIM). And also do you know the location of the uninstalled file, seems no one'a answered this lol

If you installed the product with DIM, you should be able to uninstall with DIM, as the download manager keeps track of what is installed and where. If, however, you installed V4 the first time using the old V4 executable (.exe), which are no longer used BTW, then you had to instruct the executable to create an unistaller at that time or it won't exist. If you download the current V4 files manually in the .zip files now used, there is no uninstaller. In all but the first example there is no point in looking for an uninstaller, as it doesn't exist. You must delete all of the V4 files manually.

If you have installed using DIM, the ability to "uninstall" content is built-in. you just need to open DIM, go to the "Installed" tab, select the V4 package from the list and click the "uninstall" button under the "Status" column.

Ok, but how about the clothes etc for V4 that were installed with DIM, do these have to go to that separate designated folder for V4 base? The impression I get is V4 base should be installed in a separate folder based on what the other users are saying, but I'm not sure about the products (hair, clothing etc) for it.

  • SixDsSixDs Posts: 2,384

I'm not certain what was meant by that "separate designated folder". There are sometimes reasons why some people have multiple content libraries, but personally I always keep my content in one. That is to say, a single folder which contains all of the necessary content subfolders. By default, DAZ Studio creates such a folder called "My DAZ Library" or some such, but I change that to my own folder called "3DContent" that I place on my storage drive - maybe that kind of thing is what they are referring to. Its not necessary, but I prefer it that way.

Insofar as V4 or any associated content is concerned, it must be placed in the correct folders and subfolders under that main content folder. DIM was created to do this automatically and avoid having users place content in the wrong locations, but once you get the hang of the proper internal structure of the content folder, it isn't that difficult. Since V4 and associated files are older content, they are in what is referred to as "Poser format" to be compatible with both Poser and DAZ Studio, and therefore all the files go into the "Runtime" subfolder under the main content folder. The file that you are having difficulty with exists on my computer as "D:\3DContent\Runtime\Libraries\!DAZ\DzCreateExPFiles-V4.bat. In your case, your content folder will be named something other than 3DContent, but the rest of the folders should be there as described. If the only thing that you are missing is the DzCreateExPFiles-V4.bat file, then download the V4 .zip file (IM00004783-01_Victoria42Base.zip) from your DAZ account library and stick it in a temporary folder. Now, open the .zip file and you'll see all the content for the V4 figure nested in the appropriate folders. The file you are looking for can be found in Runtime\Libraries\!DAZ\, and you simply need to copy that to the same location on your hard drive within your content folder. I recommend that you copy all the contents of that folder to your hard drive - if any of the files already are there, you'll be prompted to either skip or replace them - your choice, either will work.

I'm not certain that there hasn't been a breakdown in communications here, and if the foregoing doesn't solve your problem, then we may have to start over by playing 20 questions to ensure we are on exactly the same page. I know this stuff and these problems can seem confusing and frustrating, but they need not be either. Something has somehow apparently gotten balled up, and we should be able to fix it.

Thanks for helping me to clarify the confusion... I downloaded the V4 zip file like you said and copied the bat file to the !DAZ folder (without reinstalling v4). The morphs still don't work. I guess you really have to reinstall V4 ? (I was hoping not, since I don't have the uninstaller file)

I had the impression that V4 base should be installed in a separate folder when I read this earlier suggestion:

Though by what you mentioned, having a separate custom folder shouldn't be necessary, if I interpreted your post correctly..

    Hi,

I finally manually deleted every single V4.2 base file, reinstalled V4.2 through DIM, and THE MORPHS STILL DON'T WORK. In fact even V4.2 BASE ITSELF has an exclamation mark next to it after installation through DIM. It was installed to users/my name/documents/daz 3d/studio/my library/runtime/...

Can someone help me out on this..I'm honestly quite pissed now .

It should have been isntalled to users/my name/documents/daz 3d/studio/my library/, with the Runtime and so on coming from the zip.

Yes that's what I meant actually, sorry I rephrased it wrong. It's essentially the same path I had the previously, together with all the other stuff I've installed in. The base, morphs ++ and muscle morphs are all in this directory, together with all the other stuff I installed. I saw you wrote that an exclamation mark means a bad reference - why is it bad if theyr'e all in the same directory?

I don't know if this sheds some light - there's another path I haev under c:/users/public/docs/daz/vic 4 (can't recall it exactly, I'm recalling from memory cos I'm out of home now), and in this vic 4 folder I remember seeing a 'clothing' folder. just that, clothing, nothing else. might this be the cause of the issue?

  • Richard HaseltineRichard Haseltine Posts: 107,971

Not sure what would be in that folder - the name, other than Victoria 4, isn't informative. You may need to go to users/my name/documents/daz 3d/studio/my library/Runtime/Libraries/!DAZ and double-click the DzCreateExPFiles-v4 command for your OS in order for the morph sto be available, and if you aren't using Power Loader you will then need to go to the Content Library Poser Formats>My Library>Pose?DAz's Victroia 4>Morph Injections and use the INJ All poses.
