Micah/Melody Arctic Fox?

I've been experimenting lately with textures on the Micah and Melody figures, and I really want to see if I can make an arctic fox. The only problem is that I have no idea which texture would be the best one to use for that. Any ideas?

If you are talking about modifying one of the existing textures for Micah and the original Melody, the polar bear texture below would be the closest start for an arctic fox. You might want to make the inner ear, tip of the tail and possibly the lower legs black, depending on the look you are going for.

  • I had a feeling the polar bear texture would be the way to go, but how, may I ask, does one go about modifying a texture in the way you have suggested? I use DAZ Studio 4.9, in case it makes a difference.

  • You could always open both textures in photoshop or gimp using the layers function and remove/erase the portions of the polar bear texture that you don't need, the secondary darker/black texture would be on the layer directly below the polar bear would then show through the top layer where you just erased giving you the texture mix your looking for.

I hope that is helpful in some way.

As Dave has already suggested, you would need to edit the texture in a paint program.

  • If you have all of the critter sets, like I do (I think), you'll soon realise you have a lot more head morphs for different crittters than you have textures. Sometimes you'll be able to just use another texture that's pretty close to what you want, sometimes it'll need a little actual texture editing, as detailed upthread.

I know it's unlikely, but I'd love to see more Melody/Micah critters for sale, and better digitigrade legs. Every now and then I have a think about converting some of them to Genesis3, or at least making the originals into proper weightmapped .duf figures, but I wouldn't know where to start.

  • I thank you all for your help. And in response to SpottedKitty, I feel the same about more textures for Micah and Melody. As I elaborated on here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/141706/things-i-would-like-to-see#latest
