separating and re-using props from interiors & stage kit products

Can the desireable props included in kits such as Daz3D's 'Small Room Kit: Lights and Props', for example be reused elsewhere?  The product itself is an addon and states that Small Room Kit is a requirement, but the props look like separate files.  This issue parallels many of Daz products, like Classic Deco Eclectic vs Classic Deco, West Park Clinic, Living Room Collection, etc.  The issue gets even trickier as to whether props from West Park Clinic can be used in other Daz products like Deco Bathroom, North Terr Kitchen or even in East Park Hallway, or West Park Basement, all separate products.  please advise, thxs for your time...

Using items from one set with another is a process we call "kit bashing", and it's totally encouraged. Once you purchase the products, it's entirely up to you how you want to use them in your renders. The required product listing just means that these props were designed to work perfectly with that set. But in no way are you limited to using them with just the required product.

Bare in mind, however, that things like scaling and texturing might not match when you kit bash. And the props might load in position to fit with the required base product. But you can easily maneuver the prop to where you want it.

Hope this explains things for you.

Caveat - Texture add-on sets, however, definitely require the "required" product to work.

Kit-bashing becomes the mainstay of experienced Daz Studio users. This is where shaders can completely change the look of the item to whatever you envision.

You can even kit bash clothing. Fit Control is a great utility to help ft the varous pieces together.

You may also want to categorize you items. Take similar props from different packages and put them in the same catgory, such as furnitre, light fixtures, food, weapons, etc. You can put texture sets in the same category as the item, so you sont have to hunt for it.

I wrote a tutorial on catgorizing. Check the link for Dracorn's Tips in my signature.

    Have fun kit-bashing!
