Blue Planet - Orbital View. Iray???

Hi everyone,

Blue Planet - Orbital View, http://www.daz3d.com/blue-planet-orbital-view , is in fast grab and I was just wondering if anyone has tried an iray conversion with it? If so, how well did it work?

I've done it a few times, and pretty darn well!

    Tips:

Ignore the ubervolume. Just skip it, you don't really need the effect.

The 'blue glow' object in the distance, to simulate the glowing atmosphere? It works great.

With the clouds, you probably want to remove the displacement. Getting it to work right in Iray just isn't worth it in this case, IMO.

You might run into resolution problems with the clouds, depending on how close the planet is to your camera and how large your renders are. I found the close edge just pixelated too much. And I don't think it tiles super well.

I ended up using one of my procedural shaders... but it didn't have the nice patterns of the Blue Planet clouds. Oh well! (And this is not the fault of Blue Planet... getting a texture map to play nice over a huge surface is tricky as heck)

I have messed with it.  You may need to do a bit of adjustment depending on lighting.  It has a Sky prop that you will need to delete and replace with a night HDRI (I used one from TerraLuna 3)
