Saving/Transferring Characters

Hello.

I have a few characters I have created via G3F and GeM morphs on another computer that I would like to transfer to my new computer.

I saved my characters as scenes because I don't know how to save them as character presets yet.

On my old computer my DS scenes are saved on the C drive whereas on my new computer I have it set up to save to my D drive.

Can I just copy my old scenes to an SD drive and moove them to my new "scenes" fold on the D drive of my new computer or will DS become confused by the fact that when I saved the scenes they were saved to the C drive but are now trying to find the files on the D drive?

Is there a solution to this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you installed your content with the Daz Install Manager or manually, I've found that Content Gatherer works well to move selected scenes and everything needed for that scene to a new computer. Content Gatherer does not work for me at all with content installed with Daz Connect.

    Hello Barbult.

Thanks for the reply. For anything I purchase from DAZ3D I always use the DIM to install it. For things I purchase from other places I use Winzip. Think this Content Gatherer will work in my case?

Yes, I believe it will work fine. Daz has a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, so if you get it and it doesn't work for you, you can return it for a refund. Be sure to read the PDF instructions that come with it. It is kind of a busy interface with several options. I was a little overwhelmed at first, but in the end, it worked great and I was very happy with it.

In fact, the Content Gatherer manual is available in the online readme, so you can even read it before you decide to buy it. http://docs.daz3d.com/lib/exe/fetch.php/public/read_me/index/16287/16287_content-gatherer.pdf

I do see that it is on sale today. I'm not sure how long the sale price will last.

Hmmmmmm. Sounds promising. Thanks for this. You have been most helpful.

I love your avatar BTW. That's a gorgeous hyacinth. Is it yours, or do you have one? I have some parrots but not a hyacinth.

That avatar is a photo I took of Thor, a bird at my local zoo. He talks. He says "cracker", "back to work", and he sings along with one of the zoo keepers. He is pretty entertaining.

    LOL! A quick story:

I met a hyacinth at a pet store some years ago. He used to be allowed to roam the store. One day I met him in the dog room on a display about chest high and cautiously put my arm out to see if he would step up and he did. I was a bit nervous as they can easily crack a brazil nut with that beak of theirs. He gradually crept up my arm getting closer and closer to my face and I was getting more and more nervous. When he got to my shoulder he put his head down for me to scritch his neck. An employee came by and said, "WOW! He must really like you! He doesn't let just anyone do that!"

As I scrithed his neck he began making a purring noise just like a cat. I said to him, "Oh. You like that?" and he said "I LIKE IT!" LOL! He was something. Cool bird. I will never forget that experience.
