I've changed Max Samples from 5000 to 100 and it has never been back to 5000 again

I set the parameter to reduce render time. It should have been back to 5000 automatically, right? No, it's not and I don't understand why. Do you please tell me why?

    Can't you manually set it back? Or just click the Defaults button in Render Settings.

    Yeah! But the default value is still 100. New project and I find this everytime. I guess there is a save setting button somewhere that I don't know. Thanx!

    In the preferences, you can save render settings with the scene file. You can also save the current render settings to be apply to a new scene (similar to default lighting). If you have opened a saved scene, then asked for a new scene (without specifying what to do for "On New"), I believe the current Render settings will be "sticky".
