Indie game license for RawArt and MortemVetus.

As an indie game developer it is extremely frustrating to find no clear answer on if indie game license is available for artist products and no contact information to ask the artist directly. I need info about being able to use products from these two artist in an indie game and associated costs.  Dazz you need to fix this crap and make artist contact information available and list direct associations of license types and availability next to products. Your losing more money then you could possibly imagine. You would find indie game studios would greatly enhance your revenue if you would actually treat us right.

If there isn't an Indie License for sale in the store then there is no game dev license available.   Some PAs simply do not want their products used in games, it is as simple as that.   ANd in actual fact RawArt does have a game dev license avaiable in the store  http://www.daz3d.com/rawart-indie-game-developer-license

  • Anyone know what happens if a product comes out with two PA's and you own a game license from one of them, but the other PA does not offer a game license, can you use the item? The license seems to indicate that you only need one game license, but I've been told no by a PA before. If it is a DAZ Original, I understand that the DAZ game license is sufficient, right?

In the store and in the Content tab in DAZ Studio, there is nothing indicating what items or morphs can be used in games or what licenses they require. So I understand the OPs frustration. Everything must be tracked manually. As in the example above, I had a game license by one of the PAs and I still had to contact that PA and got a different answer than I was expecting. So there is definitely still a lot of confusion there as to what can be used and what licenses you need. Having said that, I am grateful that the licenses do exist.

As for local tracking of items, there is a way to set a new set of folders for content in DAZ Studio. I might start dual installing items to see if it works (as long as I ensure I never add folders at the same time that could add the same item twice). The new content folder would be for licensed items only. Wonder if that would work. But yeah, anything to help tracking this stuff would be a huge help.

There is one game license for Daz Originals.   Daz Originals are products which show Daz 3d as one of the vendors. If there is another name alongside Daz 3d it means that  the 2nd person was the original creator,  but Daz has bought it outright, as a buyout, and so Daz now owns the copyright.

PAs  who are shown on their own, without having Daz 3d alonside are selling their own content, they own the copyright, and only they can say if you are allowed to use their content in games.

PA game dev licenses; you need a license for each one of the PAs whose content you use,  so 2 PAs, then 2 licenses, providing the PAs in question have licenses for sale.   If they don't have licenses for sale then you cannot use their products in games..

    I have also question.

Can mercant resources used in games if I make my own character/clothes with them (material and morph are baked) and do I have to put these characters also availeble in shop?

    Notes:

I use different library folders for DAZ Original, DAZ PA, and mercant resources. I have two setting in content directory manager for 2D and 3D gamedev.

There is some problems with daz connect. Can I set there also two libraries?
