how do you tell when a sale is going to end?
So earlier today I had the girl 7 pro bundle and a new hair product in my cart for just under $50 cause of a sale on 2016 items with new release in cart. I thought the sale was recent and would last longer. I was wrong. looking at my cart again after surfing the forums for awhile, and my cart pricing went up to $97 when I looked tonight.
So clearly this wouldn't have happened if I knew how these sales worked timewise. So I'm asking, what do I need to know about sales so this doesn't happen to me again? How does one know what day a sale ends?

One doesn't know - that's a conversation that has been ongoing for as long as I've been shopping here (about 9 months) and I'm sure it's been going on much longer than that. There have been a lot of people asking for some sort of notification of how long the sales will last, but nothing has changed. My guess is that it's on purpose to create a sense of urgency - a kind of "You should buy now because who knows how long it will last" type of thing.
One thing to keep in mind though - There is ALWAYS another sale. :) If you don't get it at a really good price this time, chances are it will be as cheap or cheaper in a future sale. :)
Crystal ball...
I'd like a 24 hour (48 really) that an item you have wishlisted is going OFF SALE.
Or even nicer would be a change in price notice. I have placed items in my cart too and waited till getting home- only to see the price sky-rocket.
And long as we're here. They need to STOP with these freebies that require additional purchases. I just emptied my cart because every item was tied to something else I didn't own.
Well it's a lame tactic. I'd have had the same sense of urgency had I known the sale ended tonight. Only difference is I would've bought the items in time, and might have added some other items too. So it goes, cart emptied, I probably have more than I need already.
When you see the word "flash" attached to a sale assume that you should shop quite soon.
Something like Rendo's marketplace calendar can definitely help to keep track. I have added that along with my other personal calendars in Google. I almost never miss anything interesting there :)
If the promo banner is the last one before the Flash Sale banner (barring blink sales or other sales that actually say how long they're going to last) that's usually the one that ends next. Much of the time, the day it's in the "last" position is also the last day of the sale (though not always) - day's end is also almost always Utah time. (GMT -6, I think)
It's not a hard and fast rule, and it's not guaranteed, but it is something I've observed.
You never really know how long a sale will last but in all fairness to Daz, there are other profitable online businesses that use the same sales strategy. The best advice I can give you is to take a long-term perspective. If there's something you want but you just can't justify spending the current price, put it in your wishlist. At some point in the future, buy it when the price seems right. You need to be patient, for sure, but it's a strategy many of us self-described hobbyists use.
I'd also encourage you to look into the PC+ Club that Daz runs. It really is worthwhile.
Couple of sayings come to mind when thiNking about sales at DAZ. First off, "early bird gets the worm", second "RUN, DON'T WALK!" lol
Pig entrails
I remember the unannounced January 1st sale that lasted for two hours or so where almost EVERYTHING (including new items) was on sale. Had I not maxed out my 3D money in the prior 3 months, I could have cleared my wishlist (200 items) for about $700. C'est la Daz. I used my PC+ coupon, and got 4 (non-PC+) items for $6.
It's better than the most recent previous store, (or web interface, I'm not sure which.) I had a cart full of 80% off M4 items and the prices changed mid-afternoon, Daz time. Except the prices displayed in the store for more than an hour afterward still had the sales page and discounts showing. The repsonse to my complaint stated the prices can change at any time. Of course my complaint was, the prices were still showing discounts in the store but not in the cart...
I've said this before, and I'm sure I'll say it again... I'm convinced I'd have spent less money in the past 28 months if I'd just bought what I needed as I needed it, even paying full price. I have so many things on my computer I have never used, simply because I bought it with a great sales price, speculating that I could use it for this or that possible image.
Now if I could just retrain myself to do that going forward, I'm sure I'd spend a lot less... with over 4700 products installed—not including content from other stores!—I could probably do most scenes I want without buying anything else, anyway.
That's how the sales tactic works... Next time there is a sale on something you want, most people will then just jump on it blindly or except it's required purchases to get the sale price (like "Get 70% off these DAZ Originals with the purchase of this Incontinent Stray Porcupine!"), even if it's not the best sale or the required purchase isn't something they really want or will soil their carpeting.
Its a really crappy tactic, but if you are patient (being a mental patient helps especially well), you can eventually get the things you want by waiting long enough... Just like, if they weren't all melting, eventually you could notice how much a glacier has moved... Which is a terrible example because they are probably all gone by now... But eventually they do come on sale for an amazing price and you get to read about it in some "thank you thread" where all sorts of people thank DAZ about that 98% off sale they had last night while you were in the emergency room having porcupine quills extracted from your forehead... But don't worry, there will be another one when your power goes out... Or you are attending the funeral of your dear departed porcupine friend Mr. Pokey, who died mysteriously... The point is, eventually you'll get all those things for a great price even though they are twelve years old now, ridiculously outdated or you cave and buy them in a caffeine induced panic late one night...
The random, surprise ridiculous price sales are there to fuel your sales paranoia... I got some characters pro bundle for like $5 late one night... I was bored and hiding from the authorities under a car in a parking lot and decided to visit the forums and bam, there it was a "thank you for what's her name for only $5" thread... Wow!
This happens sometimes and it's probably designed to draw people in to check for sales at random times they might normally be at funerals, sitting in church, getting married, being operated on, operating on someone or hiding under stuff while evading people... Eventually those people find some bargains that fuel some eventual future panic buys...
Isnt marketing deliciously evil?
Either and neither are as affective.
That's why marketing types have been assigned to the "B" Ark" along with hairdressers, account executives and phone sanitizers

I don't know if this is the correct thread to put this on, so forgive me if it isn't. I just purchased the Reyna Hair for Genesis 3 Female. When I had it in the cart it was showing up as the sale price of $10.76, as it was showing up as that price at check out. However, when looking at my order confirmation, it shows I was charged the full price of $21.95. I'm not sure why? Any help about this would be appreciated. Thanks!
is a blink sale faster than a flash sale?
Generally YES. A flash sale frequently lasts until the end of the day it is posted while a blink sale only lasts 2 hours. This, however, is not a hard and fast rule as flash sales have closed earlier and sometimes blink sales have lasted until the end of the day.

+1
I especially liked the "Incontinent Stray Porcupine"... and the various porcupine references that followed. Kudos.
