Hair render problem

Hi, I've been getting this problem when rendering hair sometimes. Seems to be related to the transparency. Not just this hair - any hair.

Let's guess, Painter"s Lights? It is an interaction: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/62316/hair-issue

Yes indeed, Painters Lights. Oh dear - I was enjoying them too. I'm not sure I get what the solution was in that thread but it seems I should dim the back-light, correct?

    I just rotate them slightly....

I have had this problem too.  The whole hair prop is white.  I would check the textures, which were Iray, and everything look fine.  No matter what I did, the hair would render white.  I wasn't using Painter's lights.

I did a quick (well 15 minutes but I did add some depth of field); the problem is that iray has a bug dealing with light going through transmapped transparency... there are scattered discussions about how to deal with hair, stained glass, corneas etc... In this render,  I thought I would tart it up a bit by using the Painter's Lights neutral background, Rembrandt Portrait 1 lights, Ultimate Hair Texture 2 (UHT2) with the original textures to match the  eyebrows of Ceridwen in this case. I would normally just raise the light behind a touch which eliminates the glare or use a HDRI background with the light coming from the front.... the hair looks very nnatrural that way. And, Painter's light is quite great with fibremesh hair which sidesteps the bug.

I find it's usually the back light in the Painter's lights. Moving it slightly up and/or to the side often solves the problem.
