using real people photos blended with daz backgrounds
in New Users
Newb here. Before I dive into what looks to be significant learning curve I'd like to know if anyone has had success in blending real images of people with daz3d backgrounds and objects to create decent composites? Any samples out there? Everything I see seems to be rendered entirely.
thanks!

I haven't seen many of that type of art. The other way around, integrating 3D items into real landscape, yes, but real people...
I guess it depends on your photographic and photoshopping skills. You would also have to match light sources in the render with that in the photo. An interesting task, i guess.
EDIT: Here's a quick and dirty attempt of merging a photo (from http://www.publicdomainpictures.net/view-image.php?image=49746&picture=homeless) and a render of http://www.daz3d.com/east-ave-tunnel. It needs a lot more time adjusting the photo to the render, but I guess it's doable. Like I said, it depends on your Photoshopping skills (and mine are abysmal).
Thanks for the response Bee! It would have to be selective for sure. I'm not saying create something like "look! i was in italy for vacation" but more of using fantasy or inspired environments staging the lighting and then using similar lighting with people. A good example of this is cosplay models and placing them in specific scenes generated through Daz. The rendering examples I see look so well done it seems possible certain images.
Most challening thing would be shadows. It's no big problem when you try to implement a 3D figure into a regular landscape, as you can rendser it with shadows and transparent background. I have no idea how to do that with real photos...
I wish you the best of luck, and maybe you'll share the results.
I think you would be best served to take your photos first and then match the lighting to your photos. I think doing it the other way around will be almost impossible. in Daz land you can do any lighting you want (of course, you will have to learn the basics or find some light sets that will be close to what you are looking for) but if you can get close the light in your photo you can absolutely blend them together in photoshop or something similar.
