Questions about look at my hair

So, I was considering buying the look at my free hair for DAZ. I have the free LAMH player, however, and when I went to test out some premade LAMH hairs I found I ended up with two concerns. I was looking at some fur made for a few of the DAZ animals. In all but one case, the fur was very ineffective, and didn't cover the whole animal at all, making the animal look scraggly, rather than furred. Playing with the settings of the fur in the player didn't help much. The second and more concerning thing was that using the LAMH hairs crashed my DAZ more than once. If I tried to load more than one LAMH hair into a scene it crashed DAZ, and DAZ occasionally crashed just using one LAMH hair. Is it common for LAHM to do this to DAZ? Obviously, you can imagine what trouble this would cause to my workflow if I bought the product and used it to create hairs for my characters and animals, only to have DAZ crash every time I tried to use it. Given this, I don't know if I want to waste money (or time learning how to use it!) on something that won't work for me. Any thoughts or possible solutions, please?

If you rendered LAMH hair without conversion, I guess you were rendering in 3DL mode?

If you converted the fur to object, to render in Iray, you would run into a memory issue, so everything depends on how much RAM you have on your system. In 3DL, memory can also be an issue, though it is a bit less problematic than in Iray.
