Raydream Import (solved)
I have searched all over, and it seems no one has really spoken about Raydream for a long, long time.
In short, I have a bunch of OLD Raydream models that I would like to be able to open. Anywhere. I downloaded Daz3D, because it says it can implort. As it turns out, that's not true, unfortunately.
Is there a plug in? Is there an import tool? Converter? Anything I can use?
Thank you for your help.

RayDream was merged with Infini-D into one application giving it the new name Carrara. This was many years back, when Carrara was still part of the metacreations stable, before it went to Eovia.
What format do the old Raydream models come in, as DS can only import certain formats.
Hi,
see screen Carrara 7 Manual
Ah so the OP would need to import into Carrara (if he has a copy) and the export out in a format that DS can read? I had RayDream way back, when I was running Bryce 3 and Poser 3, so couldn't remember what formats it used. I never actually used it very much.
Or he used the trial - http://download.cnet.com/Carrara-8-Pro/3000-6677_4-10782148.html
Thanks for the replies...
I have never used Carrara. I used Raydream back in like 2000 or so. I switched from that the Bryce 4, because the animation capabilites were better.
So I still have a bunch of models that I built with RayDream that have never been imported to anything else.
I'm going to try the trial of carrara linked up there. I'll let you know how it goes.

I downloaded the trial of Carrara. That did the trick. I was able to import all my models and export them.
This was pretty much the solution I was looking for. If this were StackOverflow, I would award you the checkmark for the answer.
Thank you!
Can you do us a favour and edit the title line of your thread (clcik on the little gear icon, first post and select "edit") If you add (SOLVED) to the title then other users will know that there is a solution, if they just happen to have the same problem, Thanks.

So all of you know what's going on here...
My son started with 3d modelling a couple of years ago, in high school. He's using Sketchup. By all accounts, that seems to be great software to learn the basics. But he is looking for stuff that is more advanced. So I started looking around for some of the stuff that I had built. Partly to see how they'd hold up in Sketchup, but also to give him some ideas of how to build more advanced stuff.
This film here... Disaster At Naboo
Most of the models used there were built and animated in Raydream. Composting was all After Effects.
The whole sequence where the ships collide was all done in Raydream.
I don't know who these people are that think that was low end., I had it doing to pretty wild stuff!
