unassigned to a category

I have a lot of files in my content library. Some of them are completely buried in 6 or 7 folders.  I am trying to get them categorized but every single time I assign something to a category all of the trees collapse and I am left to start over and expand out all of the content to categorize the next thing.  It would be great if I could drag and drop things into a category but that does not seem to work.  I have seen in older versions of Daz that there is an unassigned folder.  This would be great since I could just go through this folder and categorize content.  As it gets categorized it would drop out and then I could just keep going until all is categorized.  However I cannot find it in my version of Daz which is 4.8.  Is this feature gone or can I just not find it?  Is there an easier way to categorize third party content without drilling down each and every time in the content library?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I'm not quite sure I understand the issue, however you can find your unassigned folder in v4.8 in Categories > Default > Unassigned.

dragging content (at least within already-categorized folders) copies it to another folder, it doesn't move it, so presumably you don't want to do that.

To categorize, right-click on the content thumbnail(s) you have selected, then select Categorize from the context menu.  You then browse to the folder you want to put them in.  Yes, you will have to repeat the browsing step every time, but you can move more than one thumbnail at a time.  You can also move folders (not the content within them) while they remain in Unassigned, which is helpful to collect related items nearby then move the single folder containing everything to wherever you want it in your library, then you can just sort things out from there a little easier.

  • Appears there is no issue.  I just did not know where the unassigned folder was.  You helped me find it and now I can easily categorize my content.  I really appreciate it.  Thanks
