Loading new skin

Hi. I created my own skin texture and I've been loading it from the surfaces tab, but I'd like to learn how to package it and load it with Daz. Does anyone know of a good tutorial that could teach me how to do This? It's for V4 if that matters.

Well I don't know of a tutorial but what I did was:

    a. In File Manager or Explorer go to:

        1. <My DAZ Library>\Library\Runtime\textures\

        2. <New Folder> renamed to my 'My Initials' or 'My Avatar Name' or whatever...

        3. Texture set is for Genesis 3 so I change directory to <My Initials> and new directory 'Genesis 3'

        4.  Texture set is Genesis 3 Male so I change directory to 'Genesis 3' and make direcory 'Genesis 3 Male'

        5. New Texture Set is actually just a example placeholder texture set of the default G3M texture set called Eddie so I make directory called Eddie

        6. Now I copy all the textures for the original Eddie to the personal Eddie folder I just created.

        7. I rename the place holder textures to the name 'My Initials'-'My Character Name'-'old image name sans character name and PA / DAZ name prefixes' eg ryeddieArms.jpg becomes, eg ini-jules-Arms.jpg and so on but only as place holders for the real new texture set.

        8. One by one, I go in the Surfaces Tab for the new character I am creating and replace all the textures used with the newly renamed placeholder texture set images.

        9. Create directory <My DAZ Library>\Library\Presets\Materials\<My Initials>\Genesis 3\Male\'My Character Name', eg 'Jules'

      10. Save as Material Preset - the character materials edited in Step 8.

      11. You can do the save do the character shape, clothing, and shaders (must be saved per surface), and so on.

It would be nice if you could just do 'Save As PA Product' and DAZ Studio would come up with the needed series of prompts for the information it needs to save your product(s) in a consistent organized way.

I've never tried it, but can you not save all the figure's tectures as a Hierarchical Material Preset? Or can you not do that for human figures?

Haven't tried that. I just created the needed directories were I wanted to keep the new textures and then added the new textures to a character's surfaces and then saved as material preset.

If someone knows if you can save like you said they should chime in.
