camera dimming lights?

I have a short animation. I am using "Advanced Studio Light" plugin with an ambient light and a spotlight. I am rendering in 3Delight.

In animation, when camera is behind the ambient light, the light is fine. During animation, the camera actually moves next to/in front of ambient light. When this happens, the lights dim and the whole scene dims. When just using a spot light, the dimming doesn't seem to happen.

I'm not sure exactly what is occurring. Does the postiion of camera in relation to the lights cause the lights to dim? Has anyone had similar issues or any suggestions on how to get lighting to remain consistent? Thanks for any help.

Do you have the camera Headlight turned on or off? I've noticed that the Headlight does weird things when the camera is close to other objects; this is because the default position of the Headlight is offset a little from the actual camera.

  • I see a camera setting for a "Headlamp." Is this the same as Headlight?

I tried turning this setting to off and did a new rerender. When using the ambient light, I still seeing the light dim a few frames into the video.

Also, I have Keymate and checked for any hidden keyframes. There are no extra keyframes that should influence the lighting (making it dim).

Not sure what is ocurring. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  • I deleted light and created a new one - this fixed it. Not sure what happened but at least it works now.
