A Daz Studio Rookie needs some advice/help in 3 areas

I need some advice/help with the 3 following questions…

1)  I’m used to working in Hexagon, Carrara, CorelDraw where we have pretty large “viewpoint”/workspace & in comparison Daz Studio has a pretty small

“viewpoint”/workspace, is there a setting or a way I can adjust that into a larger work area?

2) I’m trying to do an ocean scene is Marshian’s “Ocean Wide” at ( http://www.daz3d.com/ocean-wide ) with the Orca(s)/Killer Whale(s) from ( http://www.daz3d.com/orca-killer-whale ) but I’m having trouble with getting the sky, if I add my own skydome every renders into a “Black Screen”. Is there something that I’m doing wrong?

3) Also on my ocean scene I some advice on which set of brushes I need to do the water Effects off of the whale seen in the main picture on Orca(s)/Killer Whale(s) from ( http://www.daz3d.com/orca-killer-whale ) the Brush Sets that I’m referring to are from Deviney’s Ray’s Water Bundle (http://www.daz3d.com/rons-water-bundle )

Thank you,

    1) Not sure if this is what you mean, but you can move the camera back from the center of your view, or create a new camera to use then change the focal length to make it wide angle?

    2) Are you using Iray (the default render engine) or 3DL?  Research iray and skydomes.

In my experience, the "floor" is not the whole of the workspace. it's more of a directional reference. I have many scenes and sets that dwarf the floor grid.

In Iray, don't use a skydome, but set the sky in the render settings. I use TerraDome 3's skies, even when not using their ground. Also First Light Skydome is useful, but limited to early morning/late afternoon images. The use of a skydome in Iray actually blocks the light's rays.

Keep in mind that Deviney's brushes are for photoshop, they're not D|S tools. There are some wake meshes available on ShareCG.

    Thank you,
