I noticed the LAMH is in the Fast Grab this morning and thought I might like to acquire, if I can find a way to use it in my videos.

Is it possible to export animals with hair as obj, fbx?

I export Daz3d hair as props.

The exported hair is basically a static pro attached to the character head.

Heads do move, but the hair isnt moving like the entire body of a moving animal.

I do some weight mapping in Iclone for dynamic appearance of human hair and it works very well

Animal hair covers the entire body of the character, which I'm not sure how it would work... if it would work.

You can convert hair to obj. It's ... huge, but you CAN.

You can also convert hair to fiber, which is much more compact. I don't know if that can be exported, though.

But once converted, the hairs do not move. It becomes a static prop.

We write the FiberHair into a .obj file so that it can be exported into any program.  I considered creating a new format but it wasn't hard to convert to geometry so that's the way we went.  I also have exports for LAMH FiberHair to several other formats that I've not released.

Would you know if LAMH can be used in Iclone?

Yes it can.  Just import the exported file into the iClone scene as you would any other object.

Is there a new/updated version of this scheduled for release in the near future?

The answer is yes/yes.  The fault for the delay lies completely with me.  Fortunately, things for me have leveled out somewhat and I can resume development at a more normal pace.

Would you know if current owners of the LAMH plugin might get a discount on the update? (I realize that may be more Daz' decision than yours, but it hopefully can't hurt to ask.)

  • There will be at least one more update to the 1.x series (likely a few more) that will be free.  As for discounts for current owners, I am not at liberty to discuss future pricing/strategies etc since none of that has been discussed as of yet, but suffice it to say that we're customers at DAZ as well and understand the situation.

What I can say is that there are a lot of exciting things in the pipes, along the highway, in the ether, (the transport analogy of your choice).
