How to delete old saved files from Mac?

So I have some saved scenes and characters and things that I no longer need, and no longer wish to have in my smart content 'saved files', cluttering it up. I try right clicking, but there is not a 'delete' among the options. I've clicked the file and looked under 'edit > delete' but 'delete selected items' is greyed out. I tried going manually into the folder on my computer and deleting the items from there, which only makes the icon on Daz turn into an exclaimation point, and doesn't actually remove it from the list. It doesn't seem like something that should be so complicated of a thing, but I surely can't figure it out. LOL. A little help? I am on a Mac, if that makes a difference.

If you right-click and select the Show Asset in sub emnu to get to it in the category list you should be able to right-click on it and Remove Reference. I think that will do what you need.
You're having problems deleting because you're trying to do it in Smart Content. It's important to remember that Smart Content is not a view of your content files, it's a sorted and filtered view of a database of pointers to your content files. Deleting a database entry doesn't touch the actual content file, and vice-versa.
Thanks guys! This helps a ton. :D
