Anyone know of a good toga?
in The Commons
I need something a Roman senator would use. Ive seen this, http://www.daz3d.com/pax-romana-for-m4 , and it will work for one of my charaters, but I would really like a more regal toga that an older citizen would wear. Dynamics would be fine.

I have a free outfit on my website which might be of use.

If Willmap's doesn't work (and it probably will) there are several Poser dynamic ones available on ShareCG
The item you see in pax-romana is a tunic, not a toga. The toga is basically a long sheet worn over the tunic, and was quite difficult to wear, or so I have read (have never tried to wear one!). There are some dynamic items in this store called togas, but they are in fact loin cloths, not togas.
Real togas are tricky to find in the 3D market place, I guess there is not much demand, and they would be difficult to model correctly. I had a need for one for an image for my latest app, and the closest I could find was one from Poser World, and for a very old figure, ie Micheal 1. Here is the link: https://members.poserworld.com/toga.
Below is the image I created with this, the figure is G2M, and I used a clone I created for M1 to get the Toga on him.
EDIT: The figure on the right is wearing Wilamp's toga, which is the second best toga I found, although not quite wrapped round enough for a real toga. The left figure is wearing the Poser World toga.
Vital question here — are you using Poser or DAZ|Studio? Pax Romana is one of the RDNA transfers, and it's made as dynamic cloth only usable in the Poser Cloth Room. It won't work in D|S, for that you must have Optitex as one of the listed creators.
This might work. I was thinking of something more drapey but I may just have to modify my idea...
Thanks.
I didnt think about ShareCG. Ill check that out.
Thanks Havos. True, I cant imagine that a really ceremonial, official sort of toga would be easy to make or have that much demand.
Oh yah, right. I didnt bother to check. I just assumed it was a daz model. Thanks SpottedKitty.
So I tried Roman Male Toga by Rosemaryr on ShareCG but I couldnt get it to drape against itself. Had to much clipping going on. First experiment, going to try something else.
There is this one, which I have used several times, it is for the Poser G2 males.

That does look really good. Pity it is for Poser G2 males, but I guess I could convert it to M4 using the Wardrobe Wizard, or use it dynamically.
That does look nice. Is there a difference between standard G2M and Poser G2M that would cause me issues? Daz user.
They are completely different figures, and simply will not fit at all if used "as is". You either need to convert the clothing to some DAZ friendly figure, like M4, or use them dynamically.
You could check some of Jepe's shiney sheets packages and postwork the hell out of it.
My post work skills are not that great im afraid.
Rosemarys's outfits are awesome!!! Never had any trouble with them. What's your dynamic settings?
That looks great. Here are my settings...
Gravity: 1
Collision Tolerance: 1
Internal Preasure: 0
Self Interaction: Checked
I actually went back and adjusted the settings after I saw your response and got a pretty good result (below). What are your settings at? Also, I didnt see the toga on the left on the older character. Did you get that on ShareCG as well?
Remember that normally a toga is worn above a tunic, or the senator is likely to be exposing all sorts of embarrassing bits as he moves around!
Awesome lighting. Makes old roman clothing look fashionable.
LOL, yah. Havent gotten to it yet.
Sorry, I thought you used Poser, I've rarely used DS for dynamics :( But your results look great :)
The Toga I used is the 2nd long Chiton from here http://www.sharecg.com/v/76125/gallery/11/Poser/Long-Greek-Chitons-for-Micheal-4
I also added and draped a cloth plane for the shoulder part and textured them similar :)
Thank you, but they're actually Greek clothes, that's supposed to be Aristotles Peripatetic School. Although the young one on the right wears a scottish kilt
