Close up shots

how do you do closeup shots of half body to full body characters like I want the pores and the details of the skin to be seen in the shot. What adjustments should I do?

Can you post some examples of your renders (make sure your images comply with rules on nudity, etc: http://daz3d.com/terms-of-service)
What software and render engine are you using?
One thing to look at is skin surface settings. If you're using DAZ Studio and Iray, here's a good source of information on skin: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/54239/fiddling-with-iray-skin-settings/p1 and here's some general information on Iray surfaces: http://sickleyield.deviantart.com/journal/Iray-Surfaces-And-What-They-Mean-519346747).
Im using iray, just wanted to know what camera settings to use? Should I just put the camera up close?
First off, you need a skin texture that includes pores and other details. Many lack this. If the model you're using doesn't have the detail, you might be able to add it with a third-party add-on, such as

For the camera, you can zoom it in for a closer view, or dolly the camera closer. Both are done with the magnifying glass icon in the viewport, or by selecting the camera settings.

Consider that if you put the camera closer, you might block the lights.
Hi Tobor,
same available for male?
There are some methods for swapping textures among characters, as well as some utilities. This one is for G2F and M:

There's a thread on Macro Skin: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/55254/macro-skin-anyone-tried-it-yet/p1
Hi Tobor,
Applying a different (female) UV to the male character does affect all parts (diffuse, gloosy, bump, ...) of the skin.
The challenge was to have the micro-bump matching the male textures. As far as I know there isn't any chance to change the UV-mapping only for a single attribute/surface-parameter.
I don't want to put the female texture on the males.
Some other aspects to consider. Changing the focal length on the camera from the standard default 65 will either move the scene field without physically moving the camera. This can cause some interesting effects that may enhance what you're trying to achieve with a close up render. Using the DOF (Depth Of Field) will also be of benefit, as it will help draw the attention to the aspects of the face you want to feature, while slightly blurring the background and/or surrounding areas.
To utilize the DOF, for those who are unaware of how to do this, first select the camera from the scene hierarchy, then switch to the perspective camera. You can quickly focus the perspective camera onto the scene camera by clicking on the "View Frame" icon (bounding box looking thing), however you will then want to move the perspective camera's "focus" back onto the subject in your scene for making your DOF adjustments to the camera (using the camera tab dials). As long as the camera is selected in the scene hierarchy, the perspective camera will show you the DOF guides. To move the area of the DOF focus, use the f-stop and the focal distance dials in the camera tab to move the guides to the area you want in sharp focus. Depending on the size of that focus, the surrounding areas will have a nice fuzzy blur to them and can make all the difference in your renders.
