Keep in mind that almost all (99%??) of the content sold here is created by PA's, which aren't employees of DAZ 3D, but individuals that are more like freelance artists. So when you say "take a chance, if it sells great, if it doesn't, don't make another one", you're asking them to make something they already expect from previous experiences won't sell, just to see if they are really right or wrong, and it's no big deal if it doesn't sell.
This would be the same as your (or anyone's) employer asking you to work for free for 1-4 weeks (depending on the amount of work involved in the project) to make something that a few vocal clients have requested, yet the companies records show it won't be profitable. Since company profits are marginal, your employer asks you to spend half of your time on this project, and do the work with no pay, but will give you 50% of any profits from sales of the product. Your boss also stated that regardless of what you end up making on the project, these vocal clients will be very very happy that you made it. You also know that for the last 10 years the company has tried making similar products that were for the most part financial disasters, but a few "broke even". Now, how willing would you be to work for "free" on something that you probably won't recover your time investment on (i.e. the sales are so poor you end up making a couple of dollars and hour, when you normally make $12 and hour). How would you pay your bills if it doesn't make any money, how would your family feel about your working essentially for free just to make a few vocal clients happy, when they don't have enough to eat, or how would they feel when the electricity gets turned off because you can't pay the electric bill. I doubt most people would be willing to gamble their otherwise guaranteed paycheck by working for free on something that typically doesn't sell, but if it does they would get half the profits, especially if the job in question didn't pay that much to begin with (from all indications, the PA's do not get rich off of this, and some barley make minimum wage).
While I understand that the lack of products for your preferred figure type (male in this case) can be frustrating, I think it's also important to understand that when you state something like; "Make a work-out pose set for men. If it sells, then it sells. If it doesn't, well, then don't make another one, or make a better one. Don't just NOT do it because you think it won't sell" you are essentially asking them to gamble with their income on your behalf. If you search the forums, you will see that in response to forum requests, many of the vendors have tried what you suggest, and the product(s) failed to produce the required number of sales.
If anyone truly believes there is a huge potential market for the products you would like, that either aren't in the store, or are poorly represented in the current store offerings, may I suggest that you invest the time and energy and funds required to gain the proper skills to produce the products yourself, submitt them to DAZ 3D for sale, and sit back and enjoy your huge profits (or not).

The sad thing is that there are plenty of Published Artists that love male content. In fact, a lot of the content that strikes you as sexist is being made by women. This includes a majority of clothing artists - not to negate the contribution of men that work in clothes, I own a lot of Simon's work for instance, but to acknowledge that most of what you see in the newsletter was not made by straight guys sitting around going hur dur I like the boobs.
No, the deal is that we're in this to make a living, and demand for female content in literally every area is higher. If you make a male version and a female version of something, the female version will usually sell literally twice as many copies. There are exceptions, but they are exceptions to the rule.
Not only that, but making clothes is the riskiest specialty right now, because they're hard to rig for G3, they have to have photorealistic textures to get accepted, and they have to be able to support a lot of movement, which means a lot of custom morphs and rigging. It can take a month to make an outfit where my little utilities I do take me three to five days before rendering.
So when an artist says to themselves, "there's not enough workout clothing," they may well go to, "I'm going to make a female outfit and see how it does," and then "I'm not going to bother making the male version because it will be the same amount of work but pay me half as much. Anyway, I can Cross-Figure it."
And that's often as far as it gets. Things like Eagle Guard and Rune do get made, by the artists that are so well-known and skilled that they can depend on their work selling because it's theirs (I think Luthbel could probably sell a male 70's discoteque outfit with a glitter jumpsuit and make it pay, he's a wizard)(and if Aarki made a wrestling jersey made of feathers I would buy it). But I also fully understand why that can't happen with every outfit forever. I myself make everything unisex if I can because 1. I want a male version for my use and 2. I need the female version to subsidize that.

It'll get finished eventually, otherwise we won't be able to eat.
I do this a lot. It works really well for the types of poses I consider gender neutral. And unless the right pose just happens to be for the base figure I'm working with, I have to make adjustments anyway... DS 4.9 makes it really easy, too, with the ability to not filter by content.
Ugh. Sorry to hear that. Know that I am patiently waiting with anticipation. Just please release it around the first Friday of a month. That's when I'm most likely to have funding avaialable. :)
Unfortunately I have no control over that.. once it gets through testing Daz sits on it until they get a group of products that sort of go together to release on the same day.

Poses arent that hard to make but I do admit it gets a bit boring when I buy sets to only have sexy female ones included pose-wise. Men do ride motorbikes, take showers and workout, and not everyone likes the over-sexualized female pose either.
Fortunately, I was frustrated enough by the lack of poses that I experimented and learned to make my own. It isn't as hard as you think, and then you aren't locked in to what pa's feel will sell.
I also don't actually like using women's poses on men which is a frequent suggestion here. I think they are bad enough on women by the time you remove all that sexy female backbend and hip sway you'd be halfway between making your own pose anyway.
As far as clothing and other content goes goes yeah there is an imbalance between the genders and quality issues with men's clothing as well. You can even see that in base figures sold by DAZ. Characters like Darius with baked on facial hair, and Lucian with his green toenails and red eyebrows. All speaks of a quality issues with the male lineup which isn't present in their female lineup counterparts.

Some peoples idea of a monster ...
Although it's not hard to make poses for personal use, most people lack the knack to show balance and movement in their poses for commercial sale.

don't know about that. I've seen a fair amount ofawkward boilerplate posing from pa's as well, especially in pro bundles. How many filler just standing there with clawlike fingers do we really need for men?
All posing takes is practice and observation from life. I think results similar to content currently available in the store are achievable to the average person if they are willing to invest the time and energy in some practice and observation of the human form.

Still, it does take a good eye to show the movement in a pose and translate that into something that has far less joints than an actual human, and lots of poses do get rejected behind the scene, regardless of the similarities in what is provided.
Fluid is ok but it can also be Unrealistic . Especially in women's poses I think they go overboard in making them look boneless and fake . Real humans have spines and arches and aren't going trot around 6 inch heels with their backs at impossible angles and their fingers and arms arched in twee perfect poses. If poses are getting rejected in the quantity you suggest there are certainly approving many devoid of any level of realistic body movement whatsoever.
