Pina Bausch

edited January 2017 in New Users

Hello Guys,

I am new to the world of Daz and figuering out how things are working. My end goal is to make a very specific scene. To be precisely: I would like to try to rebuild a part of the famous show Cafe Muller of Pina Bausch. See the image below. I would like to make the character in a position such as you see below hands toward the front and possibly let her walk slowely towards the wall. A clip of 10 seconds would do it. It is for me the most important that the envoirement and the character are realistic. See second picture for the envoirement. Which ad-ons do you guys advice me. And do you think it is a realistic objective for a beginner? Every other advice to help the processes are welcome.

Thanks in Advance,

Jesse

  • That environment looks fairly simple, but I don't recall seeing anything that already looks like it.  There are chairs similar to the ones in the picture in the store here at DAZ but none that I recall look exactly like that.  You can try other sites like ShareCG to see if they have any free props that look like what you need.  Check out the Freebie Forum, too.

As for the animation, you might want to consider a little longer than 10 seconds but doing short clips is a good idea.  DAZ has a YouTube channel with lots of video tutorials and in there are a lot of basic beginner animation tutorials that would get you started.  They will give you a good idea on what you need to get started and possibly even create your walk sequence which it sounds like your goal is.

  • Thanks Knittingmommy your suggestions already hepled me a lot in the good direction. I am just stressing a bit out now to get the haircut. Which Haircut editer would you suggest to get the low ponytail from Pina?

  • Ah, the hair might take a bit to find.  I don't recall seeing one quite like that before.  DS doesn't really have a haircut editor per say like other programs might.  You might be able to do a similar hair style like that with LAMH (Look at my Hair by Alessandro_AM and Kendall Sears) but you would need the full version in order to make your own hair preset.  Alessandro has a YouTube channel with some great tutorials on there that you can check out before buying to see if it will work for you.

Blender is an option.  I'm not that familiar with Blender's dynamic hair yet, but it could do that type of hairstyle.  I think from one of the YouTube tutorials I've seen, it can be exported as geometry which could then be brought into DS.  I can't seem to find that video at the moment.  I'll post it when I track it down.  You can also model hair with polygons and export it as an object that DAZ Studio can import.  The added advantage is that Blender is free.  There are a couple of good tutorials around for making hair and I would suggest you take a look at some YouTube videos to see if it is something you think you could get into.

Lady Littlefox has a great tutorial for modeling hair that I think is great that is available in the store here and while she uses something else, you definitely apply what she teaches in Blender.  Modeling with Lady Littlefox - Hair Modeling.  It is part of a series and you can just get the one without needing the others or you can get a bundle with all of the tutorials.  They are older but still have great advice that can be used with newer figures.

One option to find that hair without having to model it yourself is to post a "Need a hair like this..." type thread with the picture to see if anyone has seen a hair that is similar enough to suit your needs.  Right now the closest hair I can think of is Elite Ponytail for Genesis 2 Females and the hairline is all wrong.  It will autofit to Genesis 3, though.  With the number of people in the forums, someone might have seen a hairstyle like the one you want.

    Good luck.
