What does "dynamic" mean for clothing (V4 Dynamic Jeans Suspenders)?

We have an older product called V4 Dynamic Jeans Suspenders.  What does "dynamic" mean in this context?  And how do we adjust it to fit a figure?  There don't appear to be any morphs for adjusting it (for example, to expand the thighs a bit).  The read-me file has a link to a documentation file, but that link doesn't work any longer.

Comments

  • If it is Daz Studio dynamic clothing (and you are using daz Studio) then no, it doesn't have any adjustments - however, it can be told to drape using the Dynamic Clothing plug-in (Window>Panes(Tabs)>Dynamic Clothing) when fitted to the figure it was made for, which will simulate the way real cloth behaves. If you want to use it on another figure it won't convert, but you can do an animated drape - esentially load the clothing, pose the figure to fit inside it, then in the Timeline pane drag the slider to the last frame (the right of the bar) and apply the pose you want, drag the slider back to frame 0 (and make sure the figure still fits inside the clothing), then in the Dynamic Clothing pane set the Drape type to Animated and run the drape. Any chnage you make to a figure's pose will break the draping and you will have to rerun it.

  • Thanks.  Will give it a try.

However, since it is a V4 item it is probably a Poser Dynamic Clothing. There was a time when Studio didn't support this. I don't know if that's still true.

    LATER

Well, never mind, the clothing is Genesis & V4, which means its newer and probably for DS.

There's that "drape" word again... does the dynamic U.S. flag require the plug-in too?

Reading some of the comments I thought this was going in the direction of physically putting the flag ON TOP OF a desired shape, I tried to set up a "flag" figure using Maclean's morphing terrain from the "Everyday Morphing Primitives" set.  Nice props set, but for a flag I don't think this is necessarily the way to go...

  • DS has a free version of the Optitex Dynamic Clothing plug-in - it lacks the ability to edit material properties and, more to the point for the flag, the wind machine but it does give you full access to draping (and can use preset fabric settings).

Thanks, I think I get it now. I would like to point out that most models and sets have a "Required..." field at the top of the page, ergo you have to have such and such a base figure (or base garment set or ensemble or whatever).

Some of the "dynamic cloth" items like the cape and the flag have nothing mentioned at the top, not even a "Oh by the way..." sort of mention. Just a vague mention near the *bottom* of the page. Further with the flag it kind of just stands there, rigid, when you load it.

Some sort of hint or pop-up balloon would be handy in this case... something that relates to possible extended functions based on such-and-such criteria.

Just as an example the "You may also like..." field is a routine feature, at the bottow of store pages.

IMO the dynamic flag and cape pages could use a mention along the lines of "if you want the invisible wind to blow, you'll need to... bla bla... bla" etc.
