Dynamic to Conforming clothing

Hi, and sorry if this has been asked before but did a search and couldn't find an answer.  I have some great Dynamic clothes (like the Toga etc.) and wanted to know is there any way that these could be changed to Conforming so I could easily use on Genesis and Gen 2..?

Onlu ask as I've never really used Dynamic before and don't really know how they work.!

Thanks

Jay

  • You could export an OBJ and rig it with the Transfer Utility. However, you would then lose the dynamic features. A better solution is to use an animated drape - open the Timeline (Window>Panes(Tabs)Timeline) and with the frame at 0 (where it starts) pose the figure so it fits into the clothing as the clothing loads (don't fit the clothing to the figure, just load it separately). Then move the frame indicator to the last frame and apply the desired pose. Go back to frame 0 and make sure the figure is still fitting inside the clothing, tweak if need be. Now open the Dynamic Clothing pane (Window>Panes(Tabs)>Dynamic Clothing) and chnage the drape type to Animated, then click the button to run the draping.

Note that the "for V4" (or whoever) is only really a hard rule in conforming clothes. Dynamic clothes by their nature are not limited to only working on one figure — if you do fit-to onto the figure, as soon as you start a drape running, the dynamic cloth will be released from the fit-to and begin draping snugly.

Well, probably; there are limits to this freedom, usually if the figure you're using is significantly different in size or shape from whoever the cloth is made for. Most Genesis human characters should allow cloth to drape on them with few problems, but be prepared to do a few adjustments here and there before draping.

  • Hi Richard. My apologies but I didn't see your reply. Thank you for the info!
