Can GEOGRAFTING attach a V3 head to a Genesis2 Female Body?

Like, to replace the head of one generation of character with that of an earlier or later generation?

Thanks!

If you had the clone of V3 for genesis and genX you would just transfer it over

I tried that.  It does transfer over.  But it looks quite different from the original V3 character.

You would lose all the rigging, so that would be a PITA to work with

It would be from the lower polys. You probably need to tweak the morph in a modeller as well.

And since all the facial expressions are morphed-based, you would have to find a way to get all the expression morphs in to the geograft as well.

  • In ye olden days there used to be quite a mini industry in cross-figure head attachment. It was a little bit of fun. The modern models (the whole, not just the mesh) are so complicated now that I guess it's too complicated.

I've never geographed but as i understand it, basically a hole in the existing genesis mesh is created and a part which matches the hole (vertex by vertex) can be welded on without wrecking the existing genesis rigging. Presuming that's correct, I would think that the necks of V3 and G2F are highly  unlikely to have the same number of vertices so it wouldn't work.  Geografting experts can feel free to correct me, show no mercy!

Actually the part about the vertices is incorrect. While you can graft the head on, you would need to go through the process of copy/making all the expression morphs and rigging which would be a pain. The genX is probably the best for someone that doesn't know how to rig or simply try to line up the head and body in a render and fix it with postwork.

Does anyone remember that there was some kind of figure that came with Victoria 4.2 that was something like V4.2 to V3?  What was that about?  Was it Victoria 4s head on Victoria 3s body?

Not quite - it was the V4 mesh with the body shaped like and given the joints of Victoria 3. But it did amount to much the same thing - it allowed, to an extent, the use of Victoria 3 clothing on Victoria 4. I can't recal if this was the version that, rather oddly, used the previous generation maps or if that was V3 to V2.

     afaicr V4 to V3 uses V4 maps

V4 for V3 also had V4's head, only the body matched that of V3, and so it is unlikely to be of much use for what you have in mind.
