Old content (Dream Home) won't load

I try to load dream house rooms, like the bathroom. I find props, materials, poses in the content library, but whenever I try to load the prop, the loading window appears and disappears in seconds, and nothing is loaded. I use Studio 4.8.  Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

Does that mean I need another part of dream home to be able to load the bathroom prop?

When you say nothing, do you mean nothing appears in the scene window, or nothing appears in the viewport?  Remember, the Dream Home rooms load in place, and many of them are not visible immediately in the viewport window because of this.

It can be difficult to find rooms in the Dream Home because they load into their positions in the house so only one on them loads where the camera is looking (and I can't remember which one that is).

If the room isn't in the Scene tab then there is something wrong. If it is then you can select it in the scene tab and move it. If you only want one room you can try setting it's X, Y and Z co-ordinates to 0 and then adjusing them to position it as you want it.

  • With the part selected in the scene view tab, hit ctrl-f to center the view on the item.

  • With the part selected in the scene view tab, hit ctrl-f to center the view on the item.

Where has that tip been all my (Daz) life?!?  laugh

You can also click on the small square like icon close to the camera ball, and this does the same as ctrl-f

I do that, but it doesn't seem to always work, particularily when a pose seems to move the character a long way from the moving arrows (I've had them end up outside a building while the moving arrows are inside.  It's crazy!).  Sometimes the character will disappear when I reset the pose and I have to go hunting (hate that).  I've seen a few tips on how to stop a character from moving when you apply a pose, but I can never seem to get them to stay still.  Sometimes they jump waayyyyyyyy far away.

Thanks, all! You were totally right- the bathroom was way out of my viewport. Works perfect now.

There's a map floating around somewhere that shows where each room loads, in relation to the others...

Yep.  My old maps that I carefully updated with each new Dream House release.  Each color represents a different product, and I never did map the basement...

And you've earned eternal brownie points for doing it....

You likely already know this, but if you hold down the shift when applying a pose it pops up a box where you can remove certain actions of the pose. Unclick all the translations (x, y and z) and then apply. In theory your character may spin around a bit, but they should not jump a long way.
