Carrara and Mimic Pro
I'm trying to improve lip sync in Daz Studio. The lip sync tool there is okay but not entirely precise. So I'm thinking of mimic pro in Carrara. Is it possible to animate a line of dialogue in carrara and then export that as a "pose Preset" and then merge that with a figure in Daz Studio? The idea is keep all the work I've done in Daz, but use the hopefully better lip sync control from Carrara/Mimic.

no sadly even with Fenrics pz2 exporter, I have tried myself, the Genesis and G2M & F only export BVH too, the trouble is it creates separate NLA clips for visemes so converting to keyframes just about impossible.
So you can't export a pose-prest from Carerra? Odd given they share a parent company. SO the only alternative to using Carrera for lip sync is to create the whole project in Carrera and try to duplicate the sets, camera moves, and lighting to that program? What is a BVH or NLA clip?
you can export pose presets with the plugin I mentioned by Fenric

you missed the sales sadly but if one uses Carrara regulary a handy tool for creating animations to use in D|S and Poser as Carrara has got a full easy to view keyframed timeline as well as a graph editor for those who want such tools.
NLA nonlinear animation clips are the Carrara native equivalent of aniblocks
Carrara was bought by DAZ 3D it has had a few owners and started out as Raydream studio, it is quite a different beast to DAZ studio which emulates a photography studio or film set
as does Poser
it is a vertex, spline and metaball modeller and plant and terrain generator with volumetric clouds, bullet physics and particles, the ability to load DAZ and Poser content is a bonus IMO.
as for alternatives to lipsync
there is also Poser with its talk designer the addon for other figures is available at the DAZ store

BTW Carrara does not support G3M and F so Poser and the workarounds for getting those in found on Renderosity may be another option and that may well export a pz2 to use in D|S too not tested it.
I did pick up Carrera on sale to try it out, but the mimic pro is about twice the cost of carrera and I'm not even sure if either will work for my needs...in terms of utilizing the work I've done in DS. Thanks for the information, very helpful.
