Creation of historical characters

edited November 2016 in The Commons

Hi there!

I'm new in this forum, but I have follow Daz3D since I meet it.

I'm working in a company which make AR/VR solutions, and we would need creation of Five historical characters. This characters should be not too much polygons because have to run in Smartphones. Need to be rigged, texturized and have clips animations for import in Games Engines like Unity.

Could you tell me hou much effort/price need for this purpose? Feel free in you want to tell us your estimate about time and cost to develop this.

Thanks.

José Carlos Rodríguez.

You need to check the content EULA - most people here are using the Daz figures, or other pre-made figures, so they can't just modify the figure and sell you a license to use it. Morph 3D may be a better bet as that does sell content for Unity developers www.morph3d.com

Well some historical characters, unless they are used in a satirical or editorial type context will be illegal for you to use because their estates have turned their named likeness into product commodities. Albert Einstein and Marilynn Monroe being the most famous examples. So those two people you can use a likeness all you want but you can't use their names in association with those likenesses without a satirical or an editorial context (in the USA).

Otherwise, if you have a good enough photograph, you just use OneClick (when it comes to the DAZ Store) at $39 or your use FaceGen Pro (about $140). With those products you probably then can hire a professional to finish by modifying character textures and hair out of the DAZ Store for $500 or less plus the cost of the original DAZ Store products. If they need to model new clothing, new hair, or new textures expect to pay a lot more.

If only paintings or line etchings are available of the historical characters you want to copy, example: George Washington, then you can hire a 3D modeler that will turn the Genesis 3 Male to look like George Washington for about $1500. That does not include clothing or hair modeling or creation of unique textures the likeness would need.

So all in all, about $3000 or more per likeness shouldn't surprise you, if you can find a 3D artist willing to do those for you.
