Corbin Price Shoots Up DURING Processing

It's supposed to be $8.80, it showed it in the cart, and the price shot up during Paypal processing. Watch out! It went to $12.57 (and it is still $8.80, the price didn't change in the store.)  I contacted Support but thought you might want to check yours.

  • yeah that happens to me a few times during checkout even with freebies you gotta be very observant sometimes

Yeah, what was frustrating was I checked the price as I clicked the button, and it was fine. Then I saw it a second later, GRAYED OUT as the "Processing" was happening, at the higher price.

Never had it happen with freebies- it isn't funny but it's funny that those would be the things suddenly having prices!

  • That happens to me a lot with freebies. Since I don't link a credit card, I find out about it when I'm taken to a payment screen instead of just checking out. But store's backend seems to be more flaky than an online storefront's should be.

I've had to refresh the cart window once there to make Freebies 'free'.

Yeah, this happens a lot with discounts in general.  You really have to pay attention before you confirm and pay.

The real issue is when you're using a credit card, and the price on the checkout page isn't the same as what's charged to the card with no opportunity for review - it doesn't matter how much attention you're paying. This is a serious issue that's been going on for years, and they really need to fix it.

What I'm saying though is that I did pay attention, once I hit  the button (to pay with Paypal, not a credit card either) and it switched to processing, the amount was different and it was grayed out. And it went through so fast!  Thank goodness it was less than a $4 difference, which I filed a ticket for. I'm not giving them that money. Edit: they're fast, they already did! Took less than a few hours.

Really? I've never had a difference. Are you in a state where they charge tax?  Don't some states charge internet sales tax?  Interesting question.

Edit: Clarifying that my response is to the original post, not Novica's about tax - that is not relevant to my (not-in-the-US) situation.

I had something like this happen to me once. I bought a GC in one of those "buy 4 new items and get 15% off a GC" deals. The checkout page was absolutely correct (I screen print them too) but the charge went through to my card with the wrong (larger) amount on it. Luckily (sort of!) my card is a prepay and I had loaded just enough balance on it for that transaction, so the transaction was rejected by the card provider. Being an optimist, I emptied and re-filled the cart and tried again and the second time it went through OK.

Are you guys using chrome? I'm just speculating, but their could be an issue with chrome and magento. I've had discounts disappear until i refresh the cart once or twice. It could even be an issue with certain extensions.

No, it happens on Chrome, Edge, IE, Firefox. It is a known problem complained about many times in the forums for many months or longer now and needs fixed.

I use Chrome. This was the first time I had Paypal change in the "Processing" stage though. I don't check out close to the store changeover, just to be on the safe side.

No, it's not related to tax. In my case, it was due to an item being removed from a sale while I was on the checkout page. It came as a bit of a shock when the price in the confirmation email was substantially higher than the price I had agreed to pay by pressing the button.

The total should be locked for at least 5 minutes as soon as you hit the checkout page, so it's not being affected by changes elsewhere in the store.
