Store problems during the sale

I bought a bunch of new characters in the PC+ catch-up sale yesterday and just as I hit payment the prices shot back up to full-price again and I got charged a fortune for them. Of course, I've submitted a refund request with Daz, but they don't work weekends and I'd like to re-purchase those characters at their correct sale price. I suspect they won't process my refund until late Monday at the earliest.

Does this mean I'm going to miss out on those deals?

You should be able to get a refund for the difference between what the cart should have been and what you paid, without having to return all the items and repurchasing. You can add a comment to your ticket, so if you' initially asked to return everything, you can let them know you've changed your mind.

Put the items in the cart and take a screenshot, and attach it to the ticket to show what the prices should be.

I can't, they aren't showing the same discount anymore. Yesterday they were like 65-79% off each - today they're 40-50% off.

This is why I should never shop at Daz! I learnt my lesson for the past few months, but then I decided to give them another chance. But of course it went wrong - its Daz; never encountered such an incompetent company as this before. What if that mishap had put me over my credit card limit? They just don't think about stuff like that!

Yeah, I almost got into that one as well.  Actually, I think Daz was updating the shop while the site was live for usage.  The discounts changed as I was applying items to the cart. AFAIKT the store is usually updated around 11 to midnight Mountain time, yet there are times when Daz drags their feet.

After the prices were changed it was pretty well the same old prices and stuff we had been seeing all week..(like today as well).

One thing you should always do... very carefully review your cart before you pay, making sure of the prices.

If the prices change as you apply your payment...CANCEL, or you can wait a couple days for refunds.

Daz is really good about refunds from my experience, which I appreciate.

Support offers to help if you have problems. If the problem cannot be solvable to your satisfaction they refund quickly.

Yeah, they are good about refunds. But then they make soooo many mistakes (and the same ones over and over again) that they have to be good with refunds or they would go out of business in a matter of weeks. I honestly have never seen an online company make as many mistakes as these guys do - its crazy. And I do a lot of online shopping. Its like they're only half paying attention most of the time.

I think I'm just going to refund as much as I can from this past sale and then try to forget about it and put it all behind me. There are other 3D art stores I can use that don't make these kind of mistakes.

Yes, you are right - mistakes.  The quality of daz3d content is better than most sites, and the designated daz content does work with daz stuido.  I have done the renerosity daz content and had problems. All that gliitters isn't gold.  I realize some forum posters (I won't name) are a bit intolerant, but overall my experience with Daz3d has been OK.

There are many sites that don't scrutinize content items as well as daz3d before they offer in their store/shop.

They probably do offer more superior products on the whole - although I'd point out that 'other' sites do have some of the same PAs that this site does and many of those are my favourite PAs anyway. The problem with mistakes like this (and this happened after I had hit the payment button, so there was no way to see it coming) is that if they happen at a bad time then they could potentially cost you penalty fees with the credit card company and harm your long-term credit rating. In this case the purchase price trebled upon payment - with a larger order that could have taken me over my credit limit and cost me a fine. Its not a risk you should have to take every time you shop and its not one I've had to face with any other company, no matter how small.

Actually, I believe the problem is with CloudFlare. The DAZ store updates midnight Utah time, (MST, or GMT-7,) which may take a short while. Then the information has to update at the various cloud servers around the world. It's annoying, it's frustrating, and it sucks. But if all the traffic went directly to DAZ's server, we'd be even more frustrated with how s-l-o-w the site would be.

The cart software may also shoulder some of the blame. You would think software as robust as Magento claims to be would be capable of applying a coupon without including a free item! Sites like Amazon.com have developed their own cart software over the years, (and years and years!) But they also have the budget to do so. And it's not like they haven't had their share of problems, either. But with full time staff, who wrote the software, it easy for them to get the bugs fixed "quickly"... DAZ has to put in a trouble ticket with Magento and wait for their response, much like we have to put in a ticket with DAZ and wait in the queue until it's our turn for customer service or tech support.

It's really easy to blame DAZ for every little thing that goes wrong. But DAZ is doing all they can—short of hiring a software team and writing their own custom cart software, which would have it's own issues—to make our experience here as good as possible. They changed the cart software to Magento, which does have a very good reputation, in an effort to improve the store. They hired CloudFlare to mirror the site in who-knows-how-many locations around the world so you don't come to DAZ and see an error page stating the site has exceeded the number of connections and try again later. They have a 30-day, no questions asked, return policy. (How many software companies do you know that allow returns? That's unprecedented!) And as someone else stated, DAZ is picky about the quality of the products they offer. Just ask one of the PAs what kind of hoops they have to jump through to get their products in this store.

And I don't see anyone complaining when store mistakes go in their favor. A recent post about Gift Cards getting a 40% discount didn't have one person saying DAZ shouldn't have made such a mistake. No. The only complaint was from people who were too late to take advantage of it. Likewise, the only complaints when Genesis 3 pro bundles were discounted down to $7 was from the people who missed out.

The technology behind the internet is so complex, yet in many ways so fragile, we shouldn't be surprised when things don't work the way we expect. In fact, we should really be amazed any of this stuff works at all!
