Content pane randomly blanks out -- only restarting DS will refresh?

Hi all. Running Daz Studio 4.9 on Windows 10 PC. Sometimes when I am either loading items or applying textures from my content library, the entire pane will blank out as shown. Clicking refresh and the arrow buttons have no effect. The only way I can restore the view of all my content is to close DS and restart it. Currently I'm experiencing this when I try to either load or change materials on Arki's Eagle Guard Armor for G3F.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround?

  • I used to get this happen on a semi-regular basis (also Windows 10 & 4.9) but it has not happened to me for a few Weeks so fingers crossed it fixed itself as I never found a work around & have no clue as to why it even happened.

At least you know it's not just you even if I am no help :)

Sometimes if you left click and bring up the menu and then click on "create Product" the stuff will show up again then just hit cancel  so you don't create a product ,it does it to me when I've been saving poses .....don't know why either  .....

I've had that happen a couple of times with the 4.9.3.56 Beta on my Windows 7 Pro computer.

Another issue I have is my mouse cursor disappearing, (which may be related to the USB 2.0 Logitech Wireless Trackball Mouse and driver.) The mouse still works, if you can figure out where it is, (hovering over an object still shows the orange highlight,) but I've had to close and restart to get the cursor to show up again. That hasn't happened in the 4.8 release version still running on my computer.

  • I've had this happen a few times.  Usually, double clicking on a few other products in the Content Library and waiting for a few minutes while it tries to find it sometimes helps.  It seems totally random when it happens to me.

I use a Logitech M570 wireless trackball with the default Windows driver, sometimes the cursor disappears for a few seconds then it comes back again. DS 4.9.2.70.

Same device, but with Logitech Setpoint. Once my cursor disappears, it won't reappear without restarting the Daz Studio. (This doesn't happen in any other program I use.)

There are other issues, hardware, that may affect the behavior. I specifically bought this computer because it ran Win7Pro, but apparently the hardware is for Win8, so it uses a different type of bios, one that can be controlled from within Windows. But not from within Windows 7. I've read about fixes for my mouse problem, but they require access to the bios. The best the tech from HP could do for me was have me put the dongle in a USB 2.0 port. (I didn't know it, but I'd put it in a USB 3.0 port.) That helped until about a year later, I foolishly accepted a recommended update from HP, and the mouse hasn't been the same since.

I'm on Win 8.1, but the hardware is pretty old (5-6 year). Have you tried to remove Setpoint and use the Windows default mouse driver instead? Works fine here (basic functions, I'm not using or need all the extra functions Setpoint have).

Yeah, it happened to me yesterday, Nov. 9 - about 5 weeks after your post. I was clicking around and I must've hit something I shouldn't have because now "Content Directory" shows a whole lot of nothing!

About the only thing that still works is typing in an appropriate keyword like "genesis" or "pants" - this produces many choices, esp. since pants are a common item in the figure essentials that come with DS.  Arrgh.

This happens to me fairly regularly and always in the same way. I have scene and content tabs docked in the same pane. If I have the scene pane visible (ie. content underneath it and not visible), then add something to the library, when I click on the content tab, it's blank. I have to click in the pane and scroll with the middle mouse wheel to get it to show.

  • Yup, here too. I can usually cure it by doing Window - Workspace - Select Layout, changing the layout, exiting the dialogue, and then doing it again and resetting to whatever layout I originally had. Annoying, but it usuallyworks.

It sounds like it's taking a long time to refresh...

For those with the blanking or cursor disappearing...try fiddling with the display optimization settings under Preferences > Display.  'Best' isn't always the best for the particular hardware setup.
