Daz Studio-Lite for Android Devices.

Has most of the essetial tools to set up, pose, and animate scenes as well ass access to cloud assets and a bridge to export and import scenes and assets from your PC Daz Studio.

No subdivisions and renders only in Open GL but it's the perfect tool for quickly sketching together scene ideas on the go with your mobile Android device. Will install software and library on an SD card which is portable between devices.

Man would I ever love it if this was a reality.

  • Why limit it to Andrtoid? How about the same thing for iPad and Windows tablets and phones?

  • I would love that as well.

Apple puts so many restrictions on iOS developers that I doubt Daz would want to deal with the hassles.

  • Biggest problem is the lack of RAM on mobile devices.  Most tablets have between 512M and 2GB of RAM, with the majority at the lower end. Very few models would fit in RAM and storage is not exactly copious on those things.

  • You'd probably have to have a polygon restriction on your scenes.

  • It's not the polys that are the problem.  Getting a single textured figure into a viewport would blow RAM on the biggest Android/iOS.  Also, don't forget that the vast majority of tablets are 32 bit and limited to 2GB.  The idea has been done, and there are 3D packages for tablets/mobile.  However they are more like Unity/Unreal at ultra low res.  Shade3D also has a mobile version but it is quite limited.

Personally I don't see the point of CGI art apps like DS or poser on a phone

I can't even imagine the frustration of trying to use an app like DS on a tablet....lol.

The other day I was out with my tablet and no computer. Would have been handy to be able to sketch up some scenes on the tablet and then when I get home sync it to my PC to have the scene there. Would be very handy for people on the go even if it meant just flat shading with no textures.

Since this would likely end up being a somewhat limited play tool for existing users, I think it is unlikely to bring in the needed new users (and buyers) to justify what would be an very expensive port for DAZ. As an Android (and IOS) developer I know this would be a tricky and costly exercise. If Android continues to grow, and the devices become more powerful (64 bit, much more memory etc) then this may be something DAZ would consider, but until then it is unlikely to happen.

Of course one is still entitled to want it:-)

  • I'd be willing to pay for a Daz scene sketching tool for Android.

  • Autodesk actually makes a 3D sandbox tool for Android but sadly since Daz refuses to address their FBX exporting bug it's of limited use, unless all you want to make are scenes with people standing around showing you how big the fish that got away was.

  • morph 3D dolly dressup program?

If you really want Daz Studio on the lightweight device, why not to buy the modern laptop, like the HP Spectre Pro.

It is only slightly heavier, than the tablet, but has i7 cpu, 8GB of RAM and fast SSD, so you can run full version of Daz Studio on it.

I doubt, that Daz 3D has enough developers to work on such side project for Android, but I may be wrong.

I do not think you can just scale down the existing code base for Daz Studio, to fit it in Android devices.

One need to develop a new application and that can take many years to make.

I wouldn't be interested until I can do what I do on the desktop I have.

I mean even a basic laptop to be useful needs some decent specs, and it costs.

Yea i agree, just a low mode tool to make the scenes and continue tweaking the stuff on the go, if naw we can have games running like this one i think we could have a decent tool to keep doin stuff, obviously a high end tablet or device must be used

Games and Rendering are completely different, but I suppose the actual scene setup could in part be done, but not being able to render would make it of limited value; to me at least.
