It clearly still has relevence or we wouldn't still be discussing it lol.  Clearly the need for a newborn has not gone away....

Getting clothes onto a baby model is an exercise in 'if'. Which is to say it's iffy.

Particularly if you are trying to get clothes for a different baby model (i.e., Milbaby or any of the 'toons) onto the one you are working with. Genesis is a lot more forgiving due to the clones and autofit. But it's a long way from simple. Getting clothes onto Luna is Not Easy at all.

I've never tried to make an infant before. Well, ok I have... But I failed every time... lol! To be honest. I think unless your super supersuper good at it. Or have access to HD morphs, Babys 9 out of 10 times will look creepy. This is the closest I've gotten without turning the rascal into a complete mutant. hehe! My goal with this was to make it a gender nutral baby morph. Waited for GenX to come out for G3 and with the G3F UV's and the GenXed morph. This baby morph can be used for either girl or boy. Depending on if I can find a proper wig and clothing. Which is practicly non-existant. Most babys don't have much gender features. Without pink or blue cloths, and hair. It's hard to tell their gender a lot of times. So I made my morph as gender neutral as possible.

There is one thing I cannot do at all and that is 3-10 months old. Without access to HD morphs. It's physically impossible. Because newborns have all that fat, and skin rolls on their legs and arms and wrists and neck. You cant get that detail without HD morphs.

I'm still not happy with this. All well. :P

However that morph may not be super great by its self. But if I combiined with another morph of mine. 50/50 It makes a pretty believable 4-6 year old. lol! I suppose my efforts were not completley in vein. :P

The normal morph is this one. I've been working on her for morph/mats for roughtly 6 weeks. Give or take. http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/images/172061/

Stll, good luck finding clothing for anything younger then 16. :/

More then half the time I have to zbrush the cloths to make it appropriate for a child to wear, or hide the inappropriate parts of the clothing. If I see appropriate clothing, I'm usualy the first customer in line. hehe.

That is an amazing morph! I can see what you mean about needing the HD for the fat and the skin rolls.  My boys had those in abundance and I haven't seen anything come even close to that type of morph on any of the infant figures I've seen.  You always do such great work with your kids!

Luna has basic fat rolls modeled in. Someone on ShareCg, or the Rendo freebies, resently posted a smooth morph for her which gets rid of them.

    Is this thread still alive?

Not really...but...I'll package up what I have and post it.

I was going to make a skin texture for what I was doing but lost most of work files to a hard drive crash.   The morph files were fine and are just sitting here.  I'll see if I can get it packed up tonight.

Well the babies I saw were pretty good except the heads were too small for newborns.

Pending final approval, here's what I got so far...she says it's about 1 yr old, before I made a few tweaks...

Legs and fingers too long...face is closer tho ;) Newborns especially are all head and torso...lol. Short little skinny arms and legs.

The expert (my wife, the OB nurse) pegged the age at between 3 and 9 months.  I did have an even younger morph to go with it, but like the skin texture it hasn't been able to be recovered.

Would love to see a new baby, with lots of options. We have all these sexy people running around, but no babies? I know it's fantasy, but it would be nice to render some families with tiny ones. I've got most of the options above, and have played with them to some extent. Also purchased Baby Luna from Hivewire but haven't done much with her yet. I don't think any of them are nearly small enough for the premie renders I wanted to do. I could use one right now for what I'm working on. It would be an instabuy for me if one ever found its cute little way into the store. LOL

    Finally...

I did go ahead and make a skin preset, using the basic K4 texture that ships with Genesis.

I'm still waiting for this render to finish before uploading it, but here's a screen shot of the in progress render.

Yeah, count me in as someone who'd love to see a Genesis 3 Baby at some point. I'd like to think Daz can put down the impractical bikini skimpwear and killer implausible high heels long enough to maybe consider it, lmao.

There is a Genesis Baby for Genesis 1 in the store. I'm pretty sure it was a buyout so it would be a DAZ Original. Oskarsson also did a Genesis 1 baby, which I think is on Rendo if it hasn't gone clearance/disappearance.

I can't really see that one needs more than one decent baby model given the Genesis series's morphing capability.

Only one I can remember is AdamThwaite's one   http://www.daz3d.com/baby-for-genesis

    That's right. Oskarsson's was/is at Rendo.

Wow, that AdamThwaite infant is good.
