Same for me. I will also submit a ticket. It might help if they know that more than one person has a problem with it.

I guess I'll just wait a few days to download it then...

Yes, I've the ssame problem....it's an amazing beard except for this hiccup.

  • Yup, I think its an excellent beard. I was commenting in some other post about how I had absolutely no intention of doing Santa renders. But since the beard is so well crafted (bug aside) and since it looks non-Santa specific, I had to have it. And then there is the suprise... the edit preset that lets you remove the beard and leave just the 'stache! Outstanding work by Goldtassel.

Ill update as soon as I get the fix notification from daz.

The beard and mustache do not follow face poses. I was trying to use it with Kimo, but I also tested it on M7.

I remember using Unshaven for Genesis on G2M, and auto-follow wasn't working there, either. A workaround was to "fit-to" none, set the face poses, and then "fit-to" the figure again. But that workaround isn't working with the Santa Beard. I've adjusted some of the mustache poses, trying to get it to follow his lips when he smiles, but nada.

Is this a function of the G3 figures? Do I need to turn auto-follow on somewhere? Or is this another issue that needs to be reported?

I had to do this by hand on the midnight lycan and I couldn't get all of them it's a massive job which I wouldn't wish on anyone to do.

  • I have a tutorial on how to make old facial hair follow expressions on G3F/G3M http://oddpla.net/tacky/2016/07/06/rigging-old-facial-hair-in-ds-4-8-for-g3fg3m/ , but you can use the same principles to make G3F/G3M facial hair follow expressions for G3F/G3M. You follow basically the same steps with the Transfer Utility with a few exceptions:

For the Source Scene Item Shape, do NOT use a clone shape; just use Default.

When you are selecting Projection Template Options, you do NOT need to select Reverse Source Shape from Target.

Note that, if you install any custom expression controls after you do this, you will have to rerig the facial hair so that it follows the new expressions.

I have some issues, too. I'll also be submitting a help request.

There is no Readme file and no product thumbnail.

    Metadata has errors:

    1. There is a file in Saved Files category. That category should not be assigned to any Daz store product; it is for user saved files, I've been told.
    2. 3Delight materials are categorized in Materials/Hair/Hair Colors/Base. Iray materials are categorized at only Materials/Hair (no subcategory of Hair Colors/Base). The add-on product Colors for Santa Beard uses category Materials/Hair/Hair Colors. I think this base product should also be using the subcategory Hair Colors. As it is categorized now, the Iray material files don't show up in Smart Content along with the Iray add-on colors when selecting the Materials/Hair/Hair Colors category. This was very confusing to me until I figured out the categorization inconsistency.

The category Shaders/Iray/Hair has six files. There are three pairs of identically named files. For example, two files named 00 BSanta Hair.duf. What is the difference? They are in different physical folders on disk. \data\cloud\1_35419\people\genesis 3 male\hair\goldtassel\santa beard\shaders\iray\custom lighting and \data\cloud\1_35419\people\genesis 3 male\hair\goldtassel\santa beard\shaders\iray\default lighting, What is default lighting and what is custom lighting? This product does not come with any lighting files that I can find. A readme that explained the usage of these files would be really helpful.

  • So, its been over a month and this item is still not fixed. The best response I got was ASAP, but I had simply lost patience with it especially considering that the refund period was over. Daz was however understanding enough to give me a refund in store credit which is cool. So if anyone else is tired of waiting for a fix, who knows, write up a ticket and maybe theyll refund you as well.

  • I haven't tried it yet but there is an update in my DIM. So, maybe its fixed.

    Downloading it now

I don't use DIM, never have, never will.  That being the case, how do I get the UD file?  If I dl from my Product Library again, will that version be new?

    Thanks.

Should be, ther is only one download file,  so the manual one should be the same as the DIM one

    According to the readme:

2016-12-09 - Fixed issue where part of beard was sticking in place

So hopefully this is to fix the problem people were seeing.

Awesome, just dl.  The beard.duf and all the .dsf files have dates of 12/08, so it appears to be new files.

    Thanks.

    Confirmed fix?

Not sure about the "issue where part of beard was sticking in place," but I can confirm the mustache still doesn't follow the facial expressions.

Did you submit a ticket about this? The one I wrote didnt cover that issue. Honestly, im really kind of amazed that this item recieved the ok to be put on sale because of how broken it is. Im also more than a little annoyed that it sat in limbo for over a month waiting to be fixed only to recieve an update the day after I complain about such and inquire about a refund. As indicated earlier I did go through with the refund but still, im bothered about this.

No. I didn't submit a ticket. I thought someone already had. But maybe it was the beard sticking in place issue...

Yeah, beard is unstuck, but am shocked about it not following the face.  I've had it more than 30 days now, so I guess I'm stuck with it.  Wish I'd tried it right away after I got it but was waiting til closer to Xmas, and now oops here it is.  I've dl the tutorial about getting it to follow, but geez, what a PITA to have to do all that. angry

Daz gave me store credit after I complained that it was still not fixed after a month. Drop a ticket and maybe theyll get you a store credit as well.
