Anyone else tried to use Ayleen hair? It doesn't work for me:(

When I load it, I'm getting complaints about the following missing file: 'data/larisha/l ayleen hair/l ayleen hair/uv sets/larisha/base/.dsf'. I assume that someone accidentally deleted the first half of that file name.

I tried to correct the .duf file by typing in the missing part (default), but I'm still getting the error. Any ideas why DAZ is ignore the changes I made to the .duf file and are still complaining about that missing file?

BTW, while this didn't work so far, it wouldn't have even been posible had this been encrypted. This is just one of a small number of times I was able to fix a product myself rather than waiting for it to be fixed by the vender that wouldn't be possible at all if these files were encrypted. It may only happen once every few months, but it has happened at DAZ, Renderosity and RuntimeDNA, and I've only been using DS for a year or two.

  • after you changed the file name, you may have to again reload it into the scene and save the file in the runtime after you connect to the updated .duf file.  I've had to do that myself when I changed a texture file name without saving a material preset after. Not sure if that would be your issue, though! :)

  • Well, it's beyond my .duf hacking skills at this point. There was a .duf file hidden away inside the data directory that was associated with the hair and it was also missing that filename.  But even after correcting all of those references, the error message popup goes away, but I am getting errors in the log saying those things don't exist and the grey blob cube persists. At this point, I'm guessing I'll just wait for it to be fixed.

I'd like to hear if there are folks out there that it works for them, because I don't see how this could possibly have passed even the most basic QA since it doesn't even load for me.

  • Is the hair not loading or rendering, or is it an error without apparent effect?

  • I get a rounded cube regardless of my "fix". If I use the unedited file, I get an error message which requires me to click OK (or something along those lines) and gray cube or, if I hack the file, it doesn't present me with the error box, and I get the gray cube. The log says something about being unable to load that file even though the file is there. I assume that there is some additional information that it needs and it isn't "#asset" appended to the filename, nor just the filename itself.

Have opened a ticket on that. Glad, that I'm not the only one.
