Face textures (makeup) isn't rendering right.

I'm working with a way of converting G3F make ups to work on G2F....not sure that's important but that's background

Some of the textures are going on in the viewport fine (pic 1), but when I render in iray (pic 2) or 3dl (pic 3), they go all wierd. The map is a basic square map, matching the template. (pic 4)

Some of the textures work just fine (pics 5-7)

If I use the original g3f maps, they perform the same way, so it's not my conversions causing it.

Anyone have any ideas?

    pngs.

(also a note on the screen shots of the maps, the black blur on the lower part of each is not on them, but is a something in the window behind them that the trancseny of the mac effect is showing through).

  • Do the PNGs have an alpha channel? Sometimes that can cause issues. Also, are they RGB or CMYK?

also, if you are trying to just drop that into the diffuse overlay... that does NOT work the way you think.  it requires a transparency map and doesn't like pngs with transparency.

I am just using them in the Diffuse channel. The project is finding an easy way to convert G3 make ups, like http://www.daz3d.com/artistic-make-up-concepts-2 (which is what I'm testing on) to G2F, and I was using diffuse as a quick testing method.

Obviously one of the problems I'm facing is not really knowing how LIE works :)

Well, going the extra step and letting LIE do it's thing with the altered files and they're working..still needs some adjustments on my formula...

EDIT, and the photoshop action seems to be a go.  Some will need some manual cleaning for close ups, but this should be a nice time saver.
