Does anyone know how to get the smaller pumpkins on the ground, in the 'Pumpkin Jack's Pumpkin Patch' set, to glow in Iray? There only seems to be a glowing material option for the scarecrow, but there's a promotional image of the smaller versions also glowing.

Look in the Surfaces; one of the three surfaces for the individually placeable Jacks is called 'Emissive', I seem to recall. (rendering that very product right now... so can't look.)
Thats right and changing from black to any other color will enable emissive lights.
OK, fixed... Apparently, the ones with the faces turned outwards are not listed as 'pumpkins', under the primary 'Lppp_Base all' thing. Those are the other variety. Instead, you have to select 'Lppp_Fenceandplants' - that'st eh section with the faces turned outwards.
The emissive light up material will work for the scarecrow, and all pumpkins That's why I only made one Material as it seemed silly to make duplicates of the same thing. Just make sure you click on the pumpkin patch vines on the 'fence and plants' prop to apply the emissive and it'll work just fine.
Change the Cutout Opacity to actually turn the emitters on. That took a few minutes of snarffeling around in the textures.
Cutout opacity has nothing to do with it. Use the Mat file provided and they work fine. I couldn't have renderd the promo images if they didn't.
What lighting did you use in the promos- not the pumpkins, but the deep sunset here:
And here:
They are gorgeous!
The lighting is similar to the Carnival Pack I Iray Addon which is generated from the Iray Render Settings>Environment channel. Loaded one of the Carnival Promo Scenes, I don't remember which one but anyone will do as they are all generate dusk/evening lighting. I then deleted everything in the Scene tab except the camera and loaded the pumpkin patch and set an interesting camera angle. The lighting can be adjusted by changing the SS Time on the Iray Render Settings>Environment channel. I used 8:40 pm.
Another option is to load the Carnival Promo scenes and save out a render preset. Load the pumpkin patch in a new scene and apply the saved render preset, adjust the lighting by changing the SS Time setting.
I used this set, http://www.daz3d.com/longitude-latitude-lighting-and-render-presets-for-ds-iray for the lighting. One of the light presets in there, a late in the day sunset. Cannot remember which one, sorry.
That looks like an interesting concept, for a light set!
Playing around with it I was able to get the pumpkins to glow, but I was wondering why the leaves on the vine are so gray... looking at the installation files at least one of the leaves is a bright juicy green? No biggie.
Btw in doing some post-work I inadvertently got an idea for a bit of ground fog (the white patch, this part was a mistake)... amazing to see other users having a similar idea - http://www.daz3d.com/forums/uploads/FileUpload/6b/2ed929a733f34250298fd1e562459a.png
Thanks for those tips on the lighting. Really loved the promo art for the set. Beautiful job (on the set too!)
I wanted variety in the leaves. So reseached leaf diseases and added some in varied degrees to each leaf. You could swop them out so all the leaves are green, but that's up too you. :)
Thank you :)
I must be doing something wrong! :( I have the Pumpkin all set up with 3Delight materials. Under 3DL materials there is pumpkin with emitter off and emitter on. I click on the emitter on and a light shows up in Jack pumpkin in the viewport. However, when I render the image, I don't have a light in my render. Admittedly, I don't do 3Delight very often or well, yet, but you would think I can click a button to get things to work. What am I doing wrong? Is there some hidden setting for 3Delight that I need to know about? I would normally just use Iray and skip the 3Delight, but I've been playing with a lot of the cartoon stuff and I need to do that in 3Delight!
The pumpkins only have a glow setting for Iray and Poser. There shouldn't be any files there for 3DL, so it must be a mistake.
It says so on the product page as well.
Duh. I was looking at the Materials, saw "Emitter" and started in on that - I didn't look at the Emitter material actually supplied.
I was able to get the emitter to glow by changing the Opacity Cutout. You already have it in there, ready to go - the color is a little off, not as good as the Material supplied, but its there.
The green pumpkin I applied the Green texture, and the Emitter texture. The central one I applied the light color skin texture, but changed the Opacity on the Emitter (did not apply the Emitter material), and changed the emitter color to a deep orange). The orange pumpkin I just changed the opacity on the emitter and left the rest.
All that said - it would have been better if I just lokked at what I bought, at what you worked so hard to create. It really is a wonderful set.
Well, that's what I thought and then I saw the buttons for emitter on and emitter off in the 3DL materials and thought maybe I misunderstood something cause I could have sworn that was for Iray. I ended up putting pointlights in each of the pumpkins and crashed DS so I'll have to figure out what I did that DS doesn't like. Sigh, I love Iray so much better, but I'm determined to figure out the 3DL stuff. Plus, I love the cartoon renders.
You might want to look into that because this is what I see in the 3DL materials:
The ones in the Iray materials definitely say for Iray only which is why I thought I misunderstood something when I saw the buttons in the 3DL slot:
FWIW - checking my installation, I have that too. (Red arrow in attached screen shot)
That's me! I think the fog goes really well with the pumpkin patch and I love the eerie castle in your background!
Aww crap. I must have forgotten to delete them.
I'll let the PC know.
Just out of curiosity, is the Poser side of this product supposed to have the
I ask because it's not in the Poser download. I downloaded it twice manually, and it does not show up anywhere.
