Error Silver Ruby

nicsttnicstt Posts: 11,715

Anyone else getting the same?

Load default G3, apply textures or load Silver Ruby for Girl7.

Change no settings on the figure; shows up when rendering. (Thought it was my customisations to the skin textures, but when I reverted to the default, still there.)

I've raised a ticket. (Hope it gets resolved quicker than the one I raised for four characters from one PA that is still outstanding.)

    Greetings,

Hrm; if you look closely, you can see it on the promo picture: http://www.daz3d.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/0/0/00-daz3d_ruby-for-the-girl-7_.jpg

So you can, think I'll get a refund; not fixed after all this time, not having another like the four I mentioned.

Care to tell which the other four are?

I'll see what happens with the request on the old ticket

I avoid that PA, which is a shame as like the characters but for the errors; but seems I got a character of theirs in a recent offer, so checking it carefully atm.

There is a fix for those pesky lines on the legs - they happen with other characters too:

I'd just get the refund if I were you. I had a similar problem on another model and was eventually told that the artist was happy that there was no issue to resolve. So I wouldn't hold your breath!

Most PAs will try to correct errors if they are made aware of the problem.  You would still be able to obtain a refund, so it can't hurt to put in a ticket.

Thanks but that isn't the issue.

One of the things I check before asking or raising a ticket.

It can actually be caused by ANY control map being RGB instead of greyscale, thereby being incorrectly gamma corrected...so really all of them need to be checked.

Increasing Translucency Weight for the Legs from 0.65 to 0.66 seems to help. 0.67 is too much  - the optimal value is probably somewhere between 0.657 - 0.663 I think.

Like I said, I checked. And not the only thing I look at; it's common that one is wrong, but the wrong textures in slots. the wrong values in a praticular slot in comarrison to others also happens quite a lot; even on occasions a missing texture.

It is worth checking/mentioning anyway...if for no other reason than it makes a more complete bug report.

    True enough.

Just was pointed to this thread and after taking a quick look over the maps seems to be a seam on the normal maps that got missed could you let me know if removing the normal maps fixes the issue? I dont see any seams on the textures otherwise loading them up 1 by 1 on a clay figure. If this fixes the issue will get an update in for it since I havent been contacted otherwise. Thanks!

    Hi Silver

Yes removing the normal maps resoloves the issue of the seam; of course, all your lovely detail gets lost, but at least I know the issue.

Funny, but this is the first time I've had an issue that was related to the normal maps, well as far as I can recall.

I've editted the normal maps and managed to get the rid of the same, whilst only loosing a little detail. Under certain conditions, I'm still getting a little though.

I can't get the saved files down to the size of yours though; just over 13MB is the smallest I've got them.

Will get fixes submitted to QA so they can update the product but thank you for checking, and I will take another peek over the other maps just to be sure and get it all uploaded tonight :)

Thanks for your swift response; it's things like this that make me buy a PAs products more than once.
