Lights and shadows - Solved
Hello ! I should like to know how to lower darkness of shadows with spotlights. I try to decrease "shadow intensity" parameter but it doesn't work at all. It is so easy in Poser ! Someone could help me ? Regards.

Which render engine are you using? Iray, 3Delight, or something else?
I assume you are rendering in Daz Studio. What version of Daz Studio are you using?
I use Daz 4.9 Pro and Iray.
There is no "shadow intensity" control in Iray. Maybe you're trying to use a light intended for the 3Delight renderer, or importing a light from Poser.
To add a light in Iray, be sure to first select Iray as the renderer. Then create the new light. Increase the luminosity (NOT the intensity) to elevate the light level to where you want it. Optionally, you may use a predefined Iray light provided in any of the Iray-specific light packages for sale here, or available elsewhere.
In Iray, to diminish the intensity of a shadow, you increase the size of the light emitter. There is an option to do this in the parameters for the light panel. First change from Point to either Rectangle or Disc, then increase the size/diameter. The units are in centimeters. To achieve a "soft box" effect with a very softly defined shadow, set the size to 80-100 centimeters, or even larger. Note that you will need to increase the luminosity to spill the same light into the scene, as increasing the emitter size increases the area that is lit.
Here are some illustrations of the concepts that Tobor has explained above. This is using the Iray preview mode in the viewport. Click on the attached images to see a larger view.
There is (sort of) a shadow intensity in Iray. Environment Tab> Ground shadow Intensity. Used it in the attached render. Still Tobor is right about the best way to deal with shadows.
Forgot about that one!
Since it applies only to the virtual ground, it won't change shadows cast on geometry. Maybe this is what the OP is referring to.
Many Thanks for the solution and regards.
Over a year later and still very useful advice. Thanks so much!!!!
