Nasolabial Folds?

Does any morph package for Genesis 3 have a morph for adding the nasolabial folds?

It is the one thing that bugs me the most that such a prominent feature in real faces seems to be almost completely absent from the DAZ females. Look at almost any picture of a real face and there it is adding character and form to the face, look at all the renders of females in the galleries and it's almost completely absent.

I've searched all the morphs I own and can't find any such controls and haven't spotted it so far in the store, anyone know if such a morph exists?

It seems some a basic thing that it's odd I can't seem to find it.

Yeah, the absence of smile lines is a bit of a suprise, especially with all the baby-faced females sold in the store with a high degree of facial fat, comes some creases when the mouth moves.

  • This is the closest I could find in the store: http://www.daz3d.com/expressions-for-mei-lin-7-and-genesis-3-female-s

  • Good find, Jimbow! I haven't bought those yet. Another character seems to come with them to a slight degree: http://www.daz3d.com/jolina-hd-for-victoria-7

I've got that morph pack and there is no specific morph for them, it is the way that you apply the shapes to the other parts of the face that creates them and they are barely noticeable unless you make the cheeks pretty chipmonk like.

Oh well, looks like I've got to add learning ZBrush to my ever expanding list!

My favourite kit for G3F. But when do we get 200 Plus for G3M? I hope Dogz didn't cancel the project.  crying

In that case, the Laugh Lines HD morphs (Laugh Lines 1 HD) in Aging Morphs 3 for Genesis 3 are probably what you're after.

Thanks! I hadn't thought to look at that one, will have to buy it this evening and have a play with it.

You're welcome. It's a hugely useful asset for adding imperfections to your figure.

I use them a lot, so can reccommend em.

I'm with nicstt on the 200 Plus (even if the nasolabial folds aren't your cup of tea). If you're looking to customise your character without using another 3D app, they're a great addition to your Actor options.

  • I managed to get this using the 200-Plus (and a few others).  There was one morph called Marionette Lines.  I'm not sure if that came from somewhere else or not but it worked well.  No base characters - just G3F and morphs.

Thanks, I'd tried that one and it didn't seem to have much effect, I'll have to try again and see if I just didn't dial it in properly.

Never heard them called Marionette Lines before though!

I totally read over the "naso" part of that... I was like "Whaaaaaaat?"

But that is a great word to know... I'm gonna so throw that out there every chance I get... Like for instance- "Hey, you have some crumbs on your nasolabial fold... On the right... Your face... Right cheek... Why are you looking at me like that? Nasolabial fold... What did you think I said?"

Thank you for this gem and adding to my list of perplexing and confusing words to use obnoxiously at inappropriate times.

Marionette Lines and nasolabial folds are similar but different. Nasolabial folds are the lines that run from the corners of the nose to the corner of the mouth and are also called smile lines. Marionette Lines are the lines that run from the corner of the mouth down towards the chin (think ventriloquist doll) and are more common in older people, while smile lines are all ages.

Marionette Lines morph is a daz morph.  I am pretty sure V4 had Nasolabial folds as a Daz morph, no idea about g1/g2 as I jumped from V4 to G3, I feel like having smile lines is so common it really should be a standard morph.

  • I also had to add some cheekiness (aka flesh).  Seems like when she was skinny, it didn't show up as much.  Also, play with the mouth depth.  A lot of "dial-in, no affect, ctrl-Z", repeat, just to see what the different morphs did.  It helps if you pose first.

Yeah, I've had trouble with this. Aging's laugh lines seem the most reliable way to do this.

  • It seems a bit sad that there are many morphs to control breasts but none that deal with facial muscles. I'd love to have a pose-driven morph set for expressive eyebrows like Emelia Clarke (whose eyebrows are so fantastically emotive there are videos devoted to them, allows noses to scrunch up with the little pinch above the nostrils, etc..

Just look at how many muscles are working in Clarke's face here:

     Emelia Clarke's Expressive Face

It would be wonderful to have the ability to simulate even 10% of that.

The G3M|G3F Head Expressions sort of have those but you have to dial in Cheek Crease | Cheek Crease Left | Cheek Crease Right under Posing.

I think the term laugh lines is better to understand.
