We have removed several posts, as they were getting into platform wars -- please stick to the topic of Reality.
I would prolly still use Reality if I did not need to save 2 sets of the same scene since Reality does not convert iray shders well in spite of being promised the contrary. Reality lux rendering using only the sun or 1 mesh light with cpu acc no boost can give decent in a reasonable amount of time. As soon as you add ibl or second mesh then artifacts appear take eons to clear. As others mentioned boost modes are glitchy as hell. It's just simpler to work with iray.
I picked it up on a super sale a while ago, and tinker with it, then stop then go back.
It does great results, but it's not as ... intuitive.. as iray is for me.
CartoonMike retracted his comments due to Hurricane Matthew, but I do want to emphasize i've had great support from Paulo over at the forums when needing it.
I pretty much only use mesh lights (generally 3, sometimes quite a few more) and ibl lighting in reality, and do not encounter issues with noise or grinding slow renders due to those factors, the only time I see anything like that usually boils down to insufficient lighting relative to the camera's exposure. Or less frequently, making a surface light emissive that has funky geometry (some flame props for ex). I also do not use extra boost or open cl, CPU accelerated works best for me. Currently I am playing around with 'how much crap can I pack in' building an outdoor scene with 3 mesh lights and an ibl, two G3 figures and nine G2 figures, clothes, hair, weapons, so lots of stuff in a fairly complex scene, all figures at subd2, pretty much pushes my rig to the max, but it works, and I love the results.
