Anyone have Horror From The Deep??

This creature looks pretty cool, but none of the promos really show a basic IRay render. Anyone have this and can share a simple render?

No, but now it's in my wishlist. :)  Very cool beastie, wish I'd noticed it before the PA sale was over!

He/she/it was released after the PA sale, first day of the PC anniversary

Don't hold your breath, a 2 hour CPU-driven render is bery blotchy, so trying it with GPU and .. it is not running quickly (appears to be using just 20% GPU o 1 of my 2 identical cards).

Not sure if it's the Horror or the use of TerraDome for light/scenery, but it keeps killing the video driver and despite recovery seems to then limp along ... :(

Ok, it's TerraDome, removed everything bar the NDRI and it's ripping through ... ;)

And a touch over 6 mins to complete ...!

  • Hi guys, in addition to SimonJM.

Horror comes with two materials. Alpha (shown left) and Omega (shown right). With the one in front I was playing with some shaders to add gloss as this thing comes from the deep right. Unfortunately the default shaders on horror don't have the settings one is used to from human skin to add some gloss. So I applied some different shader but might need to tune it down some more. But I think you get the idea what I was trying to achieve.

    Sweet dreams ;-)

Great renders! Thank you all for sharing. You've sold me on the character!

Yes, there are a few easy-pose dials, both for 'all' and individual tentacles

Well I'm a little late to the party I guess but... yes he is full IRay compatible and ready.

Yes he is full Easy posed, every tentacle has it's own sub category so they are easy enough to browse. Over 300 bones controlled by 20 EP chains. The included poses demonstrate ways in how to pose him.

300 bones that all had to be rigged.... o____o

    The horror! O_x

Oh and thanks to everyone for buying a copy! :D

Definitely a cool creature. If you ever decided to create a more traditional giant octopus or giant squid, I'd be happy to buy those too. You've certainly done the leg, er *tentacle* work!

I had to obtain this, the moment it came out! Love how it comes with a cloak...

Although, some of the poses in these renders make me want to see it kicking cartoon characters around like a kung-fu superhero. laugh

I had to get it as it's the closest thing I have seen to a character in a set of stories a friend has written

Just thought I'd share this quickie render (plus a little postwork in PS). This character has a lot of potential...

Cheers, Greg! I've been slow getting around to sharing renders as I continue to figure out the intricacies of Daz Studio (don't even have a gallery page set up yet), but everyone on this thread was so helpful when I'd asked for samples, I thought I would go ahead and share my first take on The Horror!
